Why is there only one time of year – as goblins, ghouls, and ghosts frolic on front lawns – when we embrace THE FEAR? At all other times, THE FEAR dominates us, controls us, and prevents us from greatness. What is there to THE FEAR? Disagreement? Criticism? Humiliation? Whatever THE FEAR is that consumes you, embrace it, along with this Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Only then will the true artist in you rise up.

Whoa, surprise. I liked this one. Dark malts, sweet pumpkin meat, some hints at pie crust, and of course spice, but not in a dominant way. Spice was balanced both in terms of the spices used and the amount. If not for the high price, I might even consider a sixer of this once a year.

Tap @ Jack Brown’s. Brown with oatmeal head. My first sniff and sip gave me the impression that it was thin and lightly spiced and had a little chorine whiff. However, it grew on me as it warmed and I drank it. It ended up being a little fuller an more robust and dry without being overly spiced. Not bad for a pumpkin beer.

Pours brown with pronounced red highlights and a small-medium tan head that doesn’t leave a lot of lacing but retains well as nice-looking skim. Pumpkin pie aroma, whiff of vanilla and spice. Very creamy mouthfeel is the highlight here, at times balancing the aggressively earthy hops, toast and significant spicing. At other times, it’s a burnt pumpkin pie. That aggressive approach catches up on the finish, which is quite sharp and leaves a bitter aftertaste.

Great nitro pumpkin beer. Not overwhelming spice. Good balance. Well hidden 9% beer, need to know what you are drinking because you don't taste the alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample on tap @ the brewery. Pours a dark cola color with a massive foamy light tan head. Full bodied. Thick rich and creamy with some nice fall spice flavors. Very enjoyable.

This is what I think of as a traditional pumpkin beer ... by which I mean I don’t like it very much. This beer pours dark brown with orange highlights along the bottom and sides of the glass. The head is average, and the aroma is rich and sweet. There’s some brown sugar, ginger, cloves, the usual pumpkin beer notes. The flavor isn’t bad up front, with all of that spice being the dominant character, but the finish is awful. The alcohol is noticeable and medicinal, like cough syrup or NyQuil, and the closing quality is fishy. Literally fishy, like water that’s had frozen fish thawing in it. I will not have this again.

Bottle from Beer and Wine. Dark brown body with slight, fast-receding head. Nose is floral, pumpkin, ginger. Taste is malty, sweet, pumpkins for sure with a strong alcy taste. Warming finish. Pretty good brew.

Dark brown, lingering head. Aroma gingerbread spice - a ton of it. If its your thing, you can proceed :) Also some vermouth and cloves. Palate medium, low carbonation. Taste is liquid ginger dough, liquory. Port wine finish. Nice one, albeit one can be too many. This beer is made to be shared :)
