Wild Dog Weizenbock is a dark amber wheat beer with a complex fruit and spice character. A smooth, full mouth-feel coupled with signature notes of banana and cloves is chased with a robust and warming edge.

Sampled at tronraner’s Xmas Eve^3 tasting (thanks lithy). Pours a purplish amber with no real head at all. Aroma of dark berries. Flavors of wheat and rum soaked fruits. Medium body with low carbonation. I love the art on the label.

Nice deep amber coloured body with tints of cola, rubies and even some coffee. Aroma of yeast, cherries, sour grapes, chocolate, roasted malt and even some smoke! Very complex - very nice to smell! Full-bodied; Nice strong flavour of roasted malt, figs, raisins, yeast, wheat, coffee and some light fruits. Aftertaste shows some fruit-like cherries and grapes, but mostly pit fruits. Strong malt and yeast along with bitter nuts following taste. Overall, a nice beer-albeit a year old and nice to drink! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 06-August-2006.

I was very surprised to see this 750mL bottle sitting on a shelf at an out-of-the-way liquor store outside Atlanta. Pours with little carbonation and a dark iced tea color with some big bubbles that dissipate very quickly leaving no ring and no lacing. The aroma is pretty weak at this point but smells just like red apple skins. There are hints of banana and spice, but it really smells like apples. The taste follows the aroma and taste a good bit like apple juice, heavy with red apple rinds. There are some spices in the finish along with a bit of alcohol. The mouthfeel is pretty flat, slick and slightly oily. There’s not a lot life left in it unfortunately. Well, I’m pretty certain this bottle is way past its prime and I was certainly shocked to still see it on a shelf. Either way, not too impressive in its current state and I wish I had tasted if fresh.

tronraner’s Xmas Eve Eve Eve Tasting. Sample from a bottle shared by me. Ruby orangish red with hardly any carbonation. Big malty aroma, caramel. Tastes are much the same, syrupy, raisins and sweetness.

Bottle at Xmas Eve Eve Eve. Pours orange-brown with a very small cream head. The aroma is caramel, leaves, compost, and bark. The flavor is wheat, chlorine, nuts, and general sweetness. Ok.
