This Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel is an exceptionally complex beer with many interwoven flavors. This classic-style Abbey beer features an immense head with a fruity nose and a generous body. Malty in the middle, the beer features a clean, almondy dry finish and a slight alcohol warmth. More like a wine than a beer—it has a lot of the qualities of a fine Burgundy. The beer is bottle-conditioned.

Bottle into tulip glass, clear brown color with light tan head. Aroma of banana/clove Belgian yeast dominates backed with come caramel malt. Taste adds notes of candy sugar, spices, slight nuttiness and some dark dried fruits (raisins, figs). Light body, moderate-heavy carbonation, dry, thin with toasty yeasty finish. I feel this doesn’t quite reach the mark of many abbey dubbels I’ve had before, decent and easy drinking though.

Very good aroma and flavor. Has a sort of grainy Barleywine nose to it. Belgian candy taste and pretty strong alcohol scent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared at a tasting at Alexei and Raphaela’s. Thanks Trapped. Headless clear brown. A little roasty, some burnt caramel aroma. Sweet burnt caramel taste. Fizzy, light-bodied, a little alcoholic finish. Feels amateurish.

Bottle to shaker glass, pours clear red-brown, quick off white head, light lacing and slight retention. Aroma caramel and raisin. Taste is sweet, slightly sour. Medium body, moderate carbonation, soupy mouth feel. Finishes long. Tasting notes of raisin, brown sugar, toffee, licorice, allspice and bread. Not as sour as I’d like but a solid, interesting take on a Dubbel.

Dark chestnut colored beer with a thin off white head that disappears immediately. Nose of brown sugar, stewed prunes, and toffee. Flavor starts with a surprising nutty almond flavor that gives way to raisins, caramel, and a subtle sourness. Finishing with a mild bitterness, this is a tasty beer.

Bottle. Brown/copper body with a short off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Mild aroma caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. No Belgian yeast characteristics. Taste of plastic and chemicals dominate resulting in no chance for the malts to come through (as they should in a dubbel). Slick and oily on tongue in the finish. Meh. Any good qualities? Not in this drain pour of a beer.

Very spicy with prominent dried fruit flavor and aroma. Enjoyable dubbel, slightly too much fruit for my liking ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at local restaurant at philly airport. Great red brown color and nose is brown sugar and dark fruit. Malty and rich but not overly complex. Pretty good and great in a tall glass. Boom!

Ft, Lauderdale, Fl - Total Wine - 12 oz bottle. Murky dark brown pour, slight, but persistent eggshell colored head, light lacing. Aroma has some brief chocolate accents, some earthy peat-like notes. Chewy flavor with some light chocolate notes, some molasses sweetness, a hint of dates, touch of brown sugar in the back end. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Pretty decent.
