soyorganic (100), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 10, 2008 Bottle: Pours dark read color with an off white heat. Yeasty, malty aroma. First sip: mmm... nice beer. Smooth... silky savory yeast taste that is balanced with a malt flavor and hint of hops. This is a simple Belgian that is not too yeasty or sweet. A perfect balance of yeast and malt which equals a savory beer. Frauditor (115), Hagerstown, Maryland, USA Mar 29, 2008 bottle. This was likely the worst beer I’ve ever had. Bought a six pack to try and forced the first one down - second attempt went in the sink drain. Maybe I got a bad batch but this stuff was gross. Aroma was of musty, sweaty socks. Carbonation was similar to a soda pop with big non-uniform bubles that fizzed like a cola. Fell off the palate like inconsistent water. Taste was the worst part - bad, bad and more bad. hints of rubber and that stuff you drink if you have just swallowed some poison. sinkr (121), Lusby, Maryland, USA Mar 26, 2008 Bottle->trappist glass: Pours a small, dimishing, off-white head that exhibits spare lacing atop of a cloudy, dark amber body. Aroma is of cookie, herbs, and sweat (yeast); the body is medium, the texture is alcoholic, the carbonation is lively, and the finish is astringent. This beer is also lightly acidic that finishes with a sour milkiness.
Not a bad beer, but not one of my favorites. BuckeyeSammy (345), New York City, New York, USA Mar 23, 2008 Amber, dark copper color, small head. Extremely high drinkability. Clean finish, fruity malt. clueo (88), Pennsylvania, USA Mar 20, 2008 Nice amber color upon pour with a small head. The smell is very sweet. The beer is a bit mild for a dubbel and the finish is smooth but sweet.
