Terminus (1955), Illinois, USA Apr 24, 2007 bottle-pours deep ruby red with not very much head to mention. nose is malty sweet and has some toasted/spicy character. really doesnt smell that belgian, but for an american version, not bad! flavors are toasted grains and sweet yeast tones. really not that complex, but for what it was, i give it credit. definately a better american version of this style, which few brewers emulate very well here in the US.
Rciesla (871), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber brown body with a light fruity aroma of raisin and banana. Light citrus with a moderate etoh flavor masked with sweet malt and a vinous thin body. decent. The_Captain (331), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 Tap at the KSBF 08- Amber (Ruby)pour with good foam head. Slight sweet and spice notes. Light body and rather mellow for a Dubbel. Had better. afireinside96 (498), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2008 On tap at KSBF ’08. Medium amber body with a large head. Lightly sweet and spicy nose. Flavor was sweet and sticky, some spicy esters, rather bland. This is supposed to pass as a dubbel? Next. joshwilfong (537), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2008 dark brown with a lot of carbonation without much head. little nose. flavor of dark candi sugar, very little caramel malt. very little malt complexity. a little hop bitterness. understated weak beer, poor example of the style derst27 (32), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA Oct 1, 2008 Smooth, very nutty and full of a caramel rich flavor. Pleasantly surprised, but I think the caramel flavor is a little overbearing but still very drinkable...
