Vintage 2003 bottle.
Amber orange colored, foamy off-white head. Nice and full aroma of fruit specially orange with a sugary candied touch. Extremely fruity flavor with peach, orange and pineapple and a nice hoppy bitterness specially in the end. Nice and smooth.

75th Rating of this beer. 750ml bottle via trade with Adrian910ss, shared with Cyn. Pours cloudy amber with a thin tan head. Nose has a great citrussy aroma, with some caramel in it also. Taste is sweet, very fresh and quite nice. I like this BW, its not incredible but its damn good.

25.4 oz bottle. Hazed orange brown with a light beige skin. Nose is grassy caramel with some musty orange. Taste is similar with hints of cinnamon and candi. Soapy with alcohol but still tasty. Mild carb, medium light, a bit sticky.

25 oz bottle, via Dickinsonbeer. Pours a clear amber body under a fine bubbled creamy beige head that retained as a thin covering. A good bit of superfine visible carbonation. Big heavy toffee malt with lots of resiny hops on the nose. Really reminds me of Bigfoot. Just a touch of alcohol makes itself known. Doesn’t taste too much like Bigfoot though. All sweet toffee and caramal malt, with just a little resiny hops and peppery alcohol on the finish. I was really thinking there would be alot more hops going on here given how strong the nose was. Mouthfeel is full bodied and fairly thick with minimal stickiness. Nice engaging, very fine, pinpoint carbonation. Overall, this was pretty good, though based on the nose I expected a little more aggressivness from the hops.

Bottle ala Pitonka, Thanks. Lightly hazed light umber color with a small stable lid of light taupe bubbles. Lots of fruit in the aromas with melon, pears, raisins, cherries, and apricots. Mild hint of citric hops to help freshing things up. Solid, but somewhat stoic scents. LIght pale malt flavors mingle with some ruby red grapefruit. Lots of hops flavors in this one. Alcohol is well hidden and only slightly warming. My mind starts to wander (a bit more than its normal roam) and I think about DFH 120, 3F Behemoth and even a few of the Fullers Vintage ales. Actually quite light in feel. I catch some coconut in the finish along with some light melon. Linger seems follows with more of the finishing flavors and a light lime zest bite. I think I popped the top of this one at the right time. Still plenty of hops, Not overly sweet and just a nice barley wine. This is not the strong one to be had with a cigar, rather a delicate one that should be savored with a good book or as the bottle suggest, good friends. A near perfect sports weekend in Wisconsin celebratory brew. GO BUCKY, PACK and BREWERS. Thanks again Andre’.

Growler courtesy of my secret santa. Shared with a bunch of friends. Pours a thin head that recedes at a moderate pace. Decent carbonation for a barleywine more than a year old and has been sitting in a growler for 2 months. Malty aroma with some caramel malts, sprucy hops aroma and a bit of roastyness. Color is a murky bright copper orange. Predominantly malty aroma with some caramel, bitter grapefruit hops and roasted malts. Full bodied but still a little thinner mouthfeel than I expected. Noticable alcohol presence. Finishes sweet and hoppy with a lingering bitterness and alcohol presence. A pretty darn good BW. Thanks to john_adam2002 for gracing me with this fine brew and many others for my secret santa.

Appearance: Pours a hazed amber body with a bubbly, off-white head. Smell: Strong, redolent pine aroma backed by a meager amount of sugary caramel. Taste: A very, very thin caramel sweetness before the highly assertive hops kick in, with a sharp floral, pine flavor. The finish is exceptionally bitter and long-lasting. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: It lacks the lushness and complexity I look for in a barleywine, but, if you’re a fan of highly hopped barleywines then I would recommend this.
