COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ESB is a classic British extra special bitter made fresh with an American slant. A beautiful copper color with an amber head, classic style features six different malts, including imported Belgian malts, and three hop varieties. The rich malty start features caramel notes that develop into a smooth, pleasurable hop finish.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a small but long lasting off white head. Aromas of bread, carmel and toffee. Palate was medium bodied and a bit dry. Flavors of carmel, bread and toffee with a slightly bitter finish. This is a very malty beer, I hardly notice any hops.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2003 Rerate: Had on Tap. Nothing special in the bottle, but on tap this beer is full of flavor, with a great balance between malt and hops- although I would have prefered more hops and more bitterness.

Tap. Strong malt aroma with light sweet cherry tones. Reddish amber color with small head. Sweet malt and moderate piney hops flavor and high carbonation. Nicely blended. A nice easy drinking beer.

12oz bottle pours copper with weak white head. The aroma is a mix of sweet malts, floral hops and then lesser amounts of spicy and earthy hops. The taste is a somewhat odd mix of firm floral hops, malts and a mild level of caramel malts. Around the edges I get notes of spicy hops, slightly oxidized tasting earthy hops and then faint fruity esters.
