COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ESB is a classic British extra special bitter made fresh with an American slant. A beautiful copper color with an amber head, classic style features six different malts, including imported Belgian malts, and three hop varieties. The rich malty start features caramel notes that develop into a smooth, pleasurable hop finish.

Appearance is a carrot orange with a thin frosting of head. Cloudy with slowly upfloating carbonation. More head would have been nice. The smell is dual malt aromas creating a tug-of-war: the spicy pale malt and the toasted amber malt. The hops are spicy and flowery both. It’s a very spring-y beer, with a lot of pop. The hops in the flavor shine though here, giving a refreshing, spicy and estery taste. The caramel-tinged malt adds more flavor. A real burst of disparate tastes. The body on this beer is fantastic: it is thick and creamy and whips into a foam when agitated. There is lots of flavor here: spicy, flowery, roasted and yet refreshing.

12oz bottle pours orange amber with minimal head. Aroma is malty and earthy some yeast detected. Flavor is malty up front and carmel malt notes too some flural hops in backround. Very smooth medium full body with a good bitter finish. One of the best 6packs flying fish offers

12 ounce bottle with no freshness date poured into a Samuel Smith pint glass.

A: Clear amber with a thin white head that quickly disappears. Slight carbonation activity.

S: Slight sweetness from the malt with some light fruit notes.

T: Very slight bitterness throughout with some light fruit and toasted malt notes. Very clean, but a bit bland at the same time.

M: Very clean throughout, medium bodied with sharp carbonation, very fresh tasting.

O: Despite the bland smell and lacking taste, I still really enjoy this. It’s a very drinkable beer with subtle flavors that leave me sipping for more.

Draft. Amber in color with a smooth white head, quickly disapates. Not as bitter as I was expecting. This beer is fruity in flavor with a fair amount of malt sweetness. A hint of hop bite balanced it nicely.

Clear amber body topped by a smallish beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, earthy/floral, some toffee/caramel. Taste is mild up front, before opening up into a very tasty mix of earthy, caramel, toffee, and floral. Light-medium body.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2003 Not particularly bitter. Smooth mouthfeel with fine malt flavor. Bitterness increases slightly on finish. Weel-balanced. This has become by old standby. Fantastic !

A standard ESB. Good but not great. Love the fact that it is Jersey tho. Decent flavor, but nothing remarkable.
