4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 BrockLanders (759) - Panama City, USA - JAN 7, 2010
Bottle from Canals in Egg Harbor. Really liked this one....big roasted malt nose. Dark brown pour..finger thick brown dark tan head. Flavor is delicious....more thick maltiness but an interesting spice is there with the nice bitter hop edge. The mineral-ness (mentioned in the description) is there but not in a gritty sense. Full bodied...the sweetness that is present during the taste falls off in the end giving way to some a very appropriate bitter finish. Good stuff.

I was a bit apprehensive about this but it was a really solid stout. Seemed like a pretty typical good stout but had a saltiness/brine at the end. I was expecting more oyster flavor but was happy it wasn’t there. It was a solid stout.

Awesome stout. Thanks JayBo. Again, this score might have been influenced by watching the Pats beat the Ravens to go to the Super Bowl. Maybe it is wistful thinking, but I pciked up some briny notes to compliment the big bold dark chocolate and heavy roasted malt character. Too bad I only had one bottle

Deep perfectly pitch black coloured body with a thin, oily deep brown head. Aroma of nothing but pungent items: anise, licorice, coffee, alcohol and roasted malt - with a definite brininess from the oysters. Full-bodied; Strong assertive nutty and roasted malt flavour with a lot of alcohol, caramel and coffee flavours and the extra body from the oysters and the almost salty finish. Aftertaste shows a ton of deep flavours again with the sweetness really coming through here and the alcohol. Overall, a very nicely done Oyster with some great characteristics and a very robust complexity. I sampled two of these 75 cL bottles purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey.

Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and light coffee. Roasty sweet flavor of rich chocolate, roasted coffee, dark malts, earth and a hint of some saltiness with a smooth dry roasty finish.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 scottw86 (908) - Maryland, USA - OCT 13, 2011
Poured black with a small brown head. Aroma is very chocolatey with some fruit and coffee. Taste is smooth and rich. A bit dry with lots of roasted malts. Finish is burnt with more coffee and chocolate. Taste is pretty one-dimensional, but the texture is pretty interesting. Aftertaste has some slightly fruity notes. Overall pretty good.

750ml bottle. Rating #109. Very dense black pour with a little brown along the top edge and a dissipating medium brown head that left some spotty lacing. Very rich aroma, almost imperial stoutish. I’m getting a lot of dark fruits, a little sweet, toffeeish and a hint of soy sauce, really nice. Flavor is a little roast and even a hint of a smoky ashiness that is very pleasing. (1695)
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BillWyce (367) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2011
Poured inky black with a cocoa-colored dark tan head. Aroma was mostly of chocolate with some grain mixed in. Deep palate with a slight thickness to it. Mild chocolatey taste that takes on a bit of coffee in the finish. A grainy note becomes more evident as it warms a little. Worth finding while it’s still available, as I haven’t heard of plans to make this an ongoing release as Flying Fish did with Exit 4.
