COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wild Rice Double IPA. The fourth stop on our multi-year trip to explore New Jersey takes us to one of the most maligned places in the state- the Hackensack Meadowlands. It’s the place usually identified with landfills, pipelines, mob burials (alleged) and sports teams that say they’re from New York. Although no longer home to forests of giant cedars and salt hay marshes teeming with aquatic life, the Meadowlands is still an amazingly diverse ecosystem providing vital animal and plant habitat. In a nod to a once common food plant here, we’ve brewed this beer with wild rice. We also used brown and white rice, as well as two malts. Rice helps the beer ferment dry to better showcase the five different hops we’ve added. Lots and lots of them. We then dry-hopped this Double IPA with even more-generous additions of Chinook and Citra hops to create a nose that hints at tangerine, mango, papaya and pine.

Shared with Ryan before clash of titans. This beer was awesome. Delicious grapefruit, mango, and pine taste.. Commericial description is spot on. Mouthfeel was juicey and bubbly. Such a great dipa, probably one of the least astrigent and bitter too... A totally different approach on this badass style. Get this now.

This was a great beer. You could taste the sweetness of the rice through it all, and it was quite enjoyable. It was kind of a balance or off-setting flavor for the hops. Definitely has some floral, fruity notes like an (d)IPA should but that rice made it different for me, and different in a good way. It poured without much fanfare though and the aroma wasn’t as strong as some can be, but there was definitely that sweetness to its aroma as well.

On draft at Capones. Pours a light golden orange with a medium sized frosty white head. Aroma of light tangerine, bitter hops, faint pine and floral tones. Taste of light tangerine, bitter hops and floral tones. Nice and refreshing.

750mL bottle. A hazy pale-copper pour with a smallish off-white head. Pleasant aroma that features plenty of pineapples, mangoes, oranges, grapefruits, pine, and floral qualities. Medium body. The taste starts out with some lightly sweet cereal graininess and the slightest touch of caramel. A hint of wheat and starchy bread in the middle. Juicy finish with loads of the aforementioned sweet tropical citrus fruits. Very drying at the end. Quite enjoyable. I could drink this one all night.

750ml bottle. Poured a medium and slightly hazy golden color with a larger sized white head. Aromas of tropical fruits, pine, floral, and juicy citrus. Tastes of the same tropical fruitiness/pineapples, citrus, some rice (or is that implanted in my mind from the name?) , and pine. I’m really enjoying this one...

Hazy orange with a dense white head. Aroma is ambrosial citrus and guava with a piny edge, and the suggestion of fruity sweetness. Taste is the same with a slight pithy bite, and fruits into the finish $8/750ml

Extremely good stuff here. Golden amber color with a rocky white head that laces nicely. Intense pine and citrus aroma right from the bottle and then with each sip. Taste has a bit of sweetness up front and then more hops. Very nice after taste that stays with you a while. Finish is very very dry.

perfect representation of the diverse population at my lifelong turnpike stop....in beer. tropical flavors this brew is hoppy with citrus and sweet. in your face gritty and powerful enough hop bite. enough alcohol to count but tempered enough toward refinement. bright looking but unpretensious. different flavors that have been worked togeather well.
