COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wild Rice Double IPA. The fourth stop on our multi-year trip to explore New Jersey takes us to one of the most maligned places in the state- the Hackensack Meadowlands. It’s the place usually identified with landfills, pipelines, mob burials (alleged) and sports teams that say they’re from New York. Although no longer home to forests of giant cedars and salt hay marshes teeming with aquatic life, the Meadowlands is still an amazingly diverse ecosystem providing vital animal and plant habitat. In a nod to a once common food plant here, we’ve brewed this beer with wild rice. We also used brown and white rice, as well as two malts. Rice helps the beer ferment dry to better showcase the five different hops we’ve added. Lots and lots of them. We then dry-hopped this Double IPA with even more-generous additions of Chinook and Citra hops to create a nose that hints at tangerine, mango, papaya and pine.

Very solid double, how I like them smooth, good citrus aroma and flavor. Smooth, good body. Don’t really appreciate how the rice changes the recipe but well done.

Bottle thanks to jtclockwork. Pours clear gold with frothy white head; good retention and lacing. Aroma: orange creamcicle. Somewhat floral with an underlying ripe fruit sweetness. Taste: moderately sweet, with a bitter finish. Pretty well-balanced, if on the sweet side. Doesn’t showcase any specific hop qualities I can name (except bitterness). If I strain really hard I can pretend to pick up on rice, but not really. Body is medium+ with creamy texture. Overall: a perfectly acceptable sweetish double ipa.

Bottle, pours gold, with a white head, citrus hop aroma, taste is a light sweet malt and then follows with the citrusy hops with hints of pine, does not finish as bitter as I expected, very good Imperial IPA

12oz Bottle. The pour was a lightly cloudy golden yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white creamy head that diminished slowly, down to a large puddled film and medium collar with excellent sheets of lacing.

The aroma was pleasantly sweet with light grain malts, citrus and floral hops and a mild earthy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit and tangerine), tropical fruit (mango, pineapple and papaya) and a very light hint of alcohol.

The taste started out lightly sweet with notes of caramel and citrus, but quickly became moderately bitter with a bold fruitiness and a strong alcohol presence at the end. The flavor lasted for a nice long time following the swallow, with a hoppy alcohol taste left lingering on the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was a bit beyond light in body with a creamy, dry texture and a carbonation that was a subdued medium in intensity.

Overall this is a really tasty and well balanced IPA. I don’t know if it is the rice that made the difference, but it is put together exceptionally well making it a very enjoyable drinking experience... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

Pours gold with a thick white head. Big malty aroma with a touch of bitter hops. Taste is malty, with mild hop bitterness, piney. More malt than hops, not my kind of dipa.

12oz bottle, thanks to Homer321. Best before 7-16-14. Clear golden color. Thin white head. Leaves decent splotches of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Good citrus, pine notes to the flavor. Not too bitter or resiny. Bready, lightly peppery malt. Moderate bitter taste. More dry finish. Solid, balanced stronger IPA.

Tasted from draft. Pours a clear gold with white head. Good lacing. Strong citrus hop aroma with some pine notes. Orange and grapefruit notes. Taste is more pine. Less citrus taste than the aroma but still present. Good malt backbone. Nice even bitterness throughout. Great Imperial IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My bottle is about 14 months old, but was stored well in a dark indoor location, so I think it did nicely. The label says "WILD RICE" in big letters, but it smells and tastes like a typical quality IPA to me, particularly in the abundance of citrus. Very attractive hazy gold color. Drinks incredibly smoothly for a DIPA. Really like this one. Next time I’m in Jersey I’m going to need to buy more.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured clear, golden, nice white head and some lacing on the glass. Aroma of malts and citrus fruits, some pine in there too. Taste of caramel with a very nice hoppiness and citrus notes, dry, clean finish. Great DIPA, enjoying the heck out of this one.

Poured in pint glass on draft. Aroma was a nice balance of malt and citrus. The taste also was balanced between the two without being a citrus blast. Carmel and some nuttiness with citrus and some pine in the finish. Glasses came with some white head that did not last long. Med body, med co2. Refreshing and enjoyable.
