3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, USA - JUL 23, 2010
750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold with a fluffy white head some good lacing. Aroma is yeasty, doughy, moderate spicy rye, herbs, and spicy phenolic yeast, some bubblegum, light clove, fresh bread, fresh yeast smell, and hint of lemon. Flavor is yeasty, dough, phenolic lemon and orange oils, leads to a slight slickness in the back of the mouth, bready crackery malts, yeast, dough, bread, light phenolic clove and pepper with slight citrus bubblegum, - finish is mostly dry but the palate remains slightly slick and the body is getting flat towards the back of the mouth- could use a touch more carbonation. Pretty good.

750 mL bottle from Ye Old Spirit Shop, Frederick, MD. A bit of a gusher, but not too bad. Pours a hazy pale yellow with floating particles. Large frothy tan head fades quickly. Aroma of big citrus and tropical hops with a bit of rye. The taste is stone fruits, tropical fruits, fruit cocktail, fruit roll-ups and a bit of a rye bite. Medium bodied. Weird but not bad.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of Belgian-style malt with notes of rye with balanced sweetness. Taste is also a mix between a solid Belgian-style malt bill with balanced sweetness level and some notes of rye with a somewhat dry finish. Spicy yeast strain is well balanced into the mix. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting take on Belgian ale with nice rye notes.

(750ml bottle thanks to blutt59) clearish medium yellow, with very few bubbles. Nose of rye, candied citrus, ginger, smells delicious. Taste of coriander, sweet orange pulp, spicy, belgian yeast. An absolutely spot on carbonation and delicious linger. Awesome beer!

Pours pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma has notable belgian yeasty qualities...fruity, clovey, and a hint of funk. Very earthy and fruity...odd. tastes like a mix between a weisse and a saison...tasty though. Mouthfeel is lively with a spicy dry finish. Unusual but tasty.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BillWyce (367) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 13, 2011
From notes: poured a hazy straw color with a small white head. Aroma was grassy mixed with earthy yeast. Very slightly thick and syrupy. Has a sweet flavor, with a mild spicy bite from the rye. As it warms, the sweetness fades and it takes on more of a citrusy flavor, with the rye a touch more prevalent in the finish.

Crushed at GABF ’10. Not bad. Has a decent hop presence with lemon, grass and some citrus, not to mention rye. Very smooth mouthfeel. Decent enough.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 Drink4Satan (666) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 4, 2011
Cloudy orange cream colour beneath a whispy white head that quickly faces, leaving on a ring and spotty film with tiny dabs of lace. Massive fruity, floral nose with loads of candied citrus fruits, white pepper, guava/mango impressions and a hint of bubblegum. The flavour brings a delicate spice to the mix, which I’m guessing is attributable to the rye. Floral and citric hops complement the rye and candy sweetness makes balances to make a dangerously drinkable spritzy Belgian ale. The finish is tremendously aromatic, with some impression of ginger and pepper along with passionfruit and leather. The mouthfeel may be the high-light of this brew. It’s highly attenuated, airy and effervescent. It tastes authentically Belgian, as if the beer had come to be after hundreds of years of tweaking and refining. There is not a bad thing to be said about this. A masterpiece!
