patrickfannon (271), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2009 Bottle. 12 oz. Pours hazy golden with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, cinnamon, spice, and hints of yeast. Medium body with a surprising full, smooth finish. Good Belgian ale from a great local brewery. BBB63 (4179), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 23, 2009 Bottle over a year old, perhaps longer and served in St. Bernardus chalice: Mostly clean golden hue with a small but lasting frothy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of honey and candi sugar, crystal and biscuity malts, apricot, pear, and a touch of mango esters. Some blended spicy notes upon the nose as well. The taste is fruity as expected with a grainy and yeasty overtone. Moderate earthy spicy component and some almost minty and sea salty contrasting tones helped with complexity and kept it from going too sweet. The mouth feel is unexpected lively and effervescent, the alcohol is mostly hidden. While a good enough brew, I am left a bit perplexed on my feelings about this brew. Part of it is interesting and moved towards the style of an classic Abbey brew but then some of it is a tad overdone and forced. I guess I will go with try it for yourself and see what you think. richlikebeer (823), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2009 small white head on a golden pour, weak yeasty aroma with hints of spices. flavors were hay, spice and not quite enough malt for me. finish was spicy and a little bit of abv. vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Jun 8, 2009 Tap. Great offering being that this is flying fish, awesome complex flavor and good aroma. alobar (1001), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 10, 2009 Straw yellow color with a foamy white head. Spicy aroma with fruit. Spices, fruits, hops, and just a touch of alcohol on the palate. Nice smooth drinking beer. yobdoog (1417), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Mar 23, 2009 Easy drinking light belgian. Some spice and sweetness. Lingers a bit with the belgian spices. Pretty good overall. BelgianBeerGal (1273), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Mar 17, 2009 Traded bottle. Simple, average Belgian style ale. Aroma and flavour had some sweetness and some spice but it seemed a little unbalanced. Finished with more harshness than expected for 6.8 ABV. Okay though. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 12, 2009 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a golden amber color with a small white head. The aroma was sweet, sugary and had a candied fruit element. The flavor was sweet, tangy, sugary, yeasty and had notes of candied fruit and pepper. The finish was long with tangy candied fruits. The mouthfeel was rather thick. Interesting.
