This strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Flying Fish beers. The Grand Cru is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness (although there is no fruit in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Grand Cru exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and a soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. Bottle conditioned, it is excellent with food as well as served by itself.

1/4/14. 6 pack given to me by Al in work and shared with Dino and Troy. Drank at Dans during the Eagles playoff loss to the Saints. Pours a clear orange with a thin head. No lace. Nose is...lets go with funky. Taste is...also funky. Weird fruit is the main taste along with other flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

P: Hazy golden apricot with a thin layer of off white head. S: Belgian yeast, candy sugar malt, apricots, peaches, golden apples, pears, dusty grains and sourdough. T/M: Spicy Belgian yeast, powdery essence, smoldered grain, orchard and stone fruit. Moderate body with subtle prickly carbonation. Finishes powdery and dry with lingering apple peels and spice. O: A decent BSPA that delivers great yeast, spice and fruit. This is a great go to beer that doesn’t break the bank.

Pours a cloudy gold with minimal head and lacing. Aromas of orange spice and nectarine. Tastes of sweet malts, honey, and subtle pear notes. Pretty delicious, underrated Belgian ale.

It's a nice malty beer with a deep caramel and sugary taste. The beer is not quite carbonated but it has all the right qualities of a winner ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a nice amber color but struggles to sustain a head. The nose has a light fruitiness with a little yeast character. The flavor favors the candi sugar and fruit notes (apple, pear). Unfortunately on the the uninspiring side.

Tap at P house courtesy of Erica, clear golden appearance with small head. Notes of dough, bananas, lemon peel, malt, and coriander/clove spice. Body was medium with a slightly sticky long lasting finish. Not my favorite style at the moment but drinkable.

12 oz., undated bottle served in a Belgina snifter. Complete pour but a thin coat of sediment remained on the bottom. The body is a hazy apricot-amber color with a short-lived, off-white head that quickly reduces to some thin film and a thin ring, leaving some small patches of sticky lacing. S: Very fruity aroma with a strong suggestion of canned mandarin orange, moderate yeastiness, and hints of pear, citrus and apple, Moderately spicy and peppery too. T: Lightly tart with a faint bitterness. Biscuits with fruit, with the fruits from the nose repeating here, along with a touch of ripe banana. Moderate amounts of spices and yeast. M: Near medium bodied with moderate carbonation. O: An enjoyable ale with some Belgian characteristics but not quite the quality (or price range) as the best Belgian counterparts.
