clueo (88), Pennsylvania, USA Mar 20, 2008 Nice pour with a dark golden color and a sweet floral nose. The taste is nice and sweet hoppiness with a touch of fruit. The finish is smooth. A nice IPA!
phillynitro (3), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jul 5, 2008 Liked it alot good flavor loved the color and aroma. Great overall pale ale Naka (362), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 26, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Juart. Probably a little bit longer than I should let an IPA sit in my basement, but it poured with a huge amount of carbonation. 3 finger cream colored frothy head. Good retention and a ton of lacing. A golden amber color with a slight chill haze. The aroma has a lot of sweet sticky citrus hop, but also a creamy caramel smell. Almost like a caramel sundae. The flavor doesn’t have as much of the bright hops as I expected. Very grassy and earthy with a little bit of floral note. A bit of a metallic flavor, but that might be from the age of the bottle. A decent brown sugar sweetness to it. The finish on it is surprisingly dry. It has a nice warming alcohol feeling left in the mouth to accompany the bitterness. Not anything great, but pretty solid. sallad (65), USA Jun 18, 2008 Mostly clear, deep golden with a thick and fizzy white head. Spicy citrus and hay with a distinct malt back in the nose. Mild (for an IPA) bitterness, and understated malt flavor -- I expected more after the aromas. Still, nice sweet malt with touches of honey and glaze under some woodsy-tang hops. Finishes long with a crisp, dry bitterness showing through. alobar (572), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 14, 2008 Copper color with a white head. Aroma of hops, floral-mild. Taste of spice, hops, malts, and citrus. Well-balance. Not much bite for an IPA. HoppityHop (74), USA Jun 13, 2008 This is a nice beer, but doesn’t taste anything like an IPA. The aroma is flowery hops mixed with caramel malt and the flavor profile seriously leans more towards malty. There’s a slight hop presence, but no real bitterness to be found.........and the copper coloring, beautiful tanish-white head, and malty flavor make this a great ESB. Better than Flying Fish’s own Amber/ESB. I’d buy this again, but it’s certainly no IPA.
