COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At the request of you hopheads, we produced this I.P.A. with a deep golden color, plenty of hop bitterness balanced by malt sweetness. Because of the extensive dry hopping, there’s a floral and citrus hop finish. It’s then lightly filtered to maintain the appropriate body and flavor. The beer features a combination of American, English and German malts to balance the large amount of hops. The HopFish also uses three hop varieties at five different times and has been dry-hopped for two weeks with 22lbs of Nugget whole leaf hops.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2009 One of my favorite IPA’s. The aroma you get when poured, very good. The flavor of this beer, well just try it. If you dont like hoppy beers than don’t bother. I rank this right up there with DogfishHead 60min IPA

Very refreshing IPA. Not too heavy on the palate, perfect carbonation, floral and citrus notes from the hops. The malt bill is appropriate.

Bottle. Amber white head. I usually give IPAs a higher aroma score than taste but here it’s the inverse, you get the grapefruit pine blah blah on the nose but taste really tasted like a big fat juicy orange. Very little carbonation for the style made it taste even more like orange juice. Nice because it’s different.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance had a slight amber to orange color with a half finger white foamy head. There was a moderately light lacing sticking all around after the head died after a minute. The smell had some earthy hops with a gentle light malt underneath. The taste was semi-sweet with a decent light bitterness from the earthy and now coming across as somewhat English malty-like. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was fairly subdued. Overall, this came off as more of an English IPA to me. No worries, still somewhat decent enough to have again.

A good hoppy flavor, just not a ton of it. Decent beer, but on the thin side for an IPA.

Bottle. Deep golden orange. Aroma is citrus hops with caramel malt. The taste adds light bitterness, floral hop notes, and bready malts. Medium carb and mouthfeel. Decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a clear amber color with a two finger head of off-white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading to leave a heavy level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is nice and interesting aroma overall. It has a sweet aroma of tangerine and caramel mixed with some melon smells of honeydew and cantaloupe. Along with these aromas are some nice hop smells of a grapefruit citrus as well as a subtle aroma of a floral and grassy hop. Taste – The taste begins with a malty and bready flavor mixed with some sweeter flavors of caramel and tangerine. The caramel fades quickly, but is replaced by more tangerine and some other sweeter flavors of light fruits. The hop is very light upfront with just a hint of grapefruit. The grapefruit grows a bit stronger as the flavor advances, but never really grows all that potent. A little bit of a grassy and floral hop flavor come at the very end, mixing with the rest and leaving a rather sweet and malty lightly hopped flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is average. A bit thicker of a body would have been better for the malty and fruit flavors all while helping bolster the hop flavors of the brew. Overall – The flavor was alright, but not really all that hoppy and sorta weak for an IPA. Nothing too outrageously good here.

Bottle. Dark clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma is bitter and resinous with some oat. Taste adds lots of citrus and tropical fruit, caramel and some grassy notes. Palate is awesome. Light and fluffy with just enough carb. The aroma drags it down but this is otherwise tasty.
