At the request of you hopheads, we produced this I.P.A. with a deep golden color, plenty of hop bitterness balanced by malt sweetness. Because of the extensive dry hopping, there’s a floral and citrus hop finish. It’s then lightly filtered to maintain the appropriate body and flavor. The beer features a combination of American, English and German malts to balance the large amount of hops. The HopFish also uses three hop varieties at five different times and has been dry-hopped for two weeks with 22lbs of Nugget whole leaf hops.

This beer is the definition of a typical obligatory IPA. Aroma was average. Light hoppiness, with citrus and notes of pine. Pour was a light orange with a one finger off white head. Taste was pretty boring. The grainy sweet malt backbone is balanced by lemon, grass and grapefruit hops. Neither flavor is very strong or full. The beer would be a good introduction to IPAs for a BMC drinker. Medium carbonation round the beer out. Slightly sweet finish.

BBD 12/27/15. Pours a clear medium amber. Normal head volume, outstanding lacing and retention. Very light nose of biscuit, caramel and slightly spicy hops. Iím surprised the aroma is so light. Light body that has a smooth texture. Perfect carbonation with an effervescent middle that never really ends. It just rolls into a nice prickly finish. Good flavor profile that lacks a bit of intensity for the style but is quite tasty. Very well balanced with enough complexity. It begins with malt (caramel and biscuit) that is noticeable but not sweet per se. The middle is slightly bitter. As the finish approaches mild hop flavor arrives - pine and rind. The finish is a touch grainy and the hop flavors slowly fade.

Bitter flowery aroma, with a taste of citrus with a little pine, and a buttery caramel malt backbone. When I first tasted it, I wanted to describe it as balanced, or in the English style, but I think this leans towards the hoppier side, itís just that it has a "large minority" malt taste profile, and I think the taste, for better or for worse, is different than the English style IPAs Iíve had in the past. Theyíre kind of doing their own thing here- and itís a good thing. The rating I gave it above is a pretty high rating by my standards. Donít know what the normal pricing on this is- I got it on sale for a good price- Iíll have to look into whether or not itís affordable at itís regular price or not.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass in a pub in Gettysburg, PA. For bottle cap collectors the cap is awesome, a flying skeleton fish with airplane engines attached. This beer is a slightly murky golden yellow colored beer with a small white head. The brew has a mild hoppiness that was very refreshing. This is a light bodied beer with mild carbonation. a surprisingly nice find.

Drank from a bottle at York, PA. Fair. Slight citrus hop nose. Slightly sweet, moderate bitter taste. Average carbonation, body is slightly thin, silky mouth feel. Finishes slightly bitter. Tasting notes of caramel, lemon zest, orange peel and light spruce. It wasnít bad for the only IPA available.

Bottle from Bethesda Food and Beverage. Toasty amber body with medium head. Nose is quite hoppy with citrus notes. Taste is also quite hoppy, lots of pine and citrus with medium carbonation. Also nice warming, caramel in the finish. Good stuff.

Chris and Alisa brought this one back from a trip to New Jersey +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a large creamy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was crystal malt, grapefruit, lemon and a touch of pepper. The flavor was bitter and malty with a noted crystal malt presence and grapefruit, caramel and vague fruity hops. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

DATE TASTED: June 13, 2015... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint... OCCASION: Just returned from Liberty Day fireworks... APPEARANCE: light, bubbly body, with a hint of obscurity; white head is creamy and leaves lacing that resembles hedgerows; thick and consistent--a promising start... AROMA: immediate slap of caramel to the nose; some yeasts that blanket the hops with an earthy, funky distinction; what does slip through is soft citric hops, approximating lemon zest... PALATE: vivid, active on the back tongue; a balanced, medium-bodied experience... TASTE: subtle spice and balanced malts/hops make for an understated profile initiallyÖ caramel malts outstrip the hops, making this a sweeter IPA... OVERALL: as the label establishes a more British approach, with an easier drinking, maltier version of what the hop head is expecting; melon and flowery hops reward lateóthis is a solid beer with a decent ABV%...
