3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kramer (3458) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 13, 2007
On tap, KSBF 2007. Pours a clear orangish amber body under a finger of off-white foamy head. The nose is sweet malt over a very light raw oakiness, some caramel and no alcohol. The flavor was a nice subtly oaked heavy Oktoberfest, no where near as viscous and alcoholic as other Eisbocks of similar strengths that I’ve had (Sly Fox esp.). The munich / vienna malts really melded well with the light toasted notes imparted from the barrell. Minimal alcohol apparency, especially if this was truely 10% ABV. Pleasant soft carbonation. Overall, one of the four beers really worth trying at the fest this year.

KSBF07 Poured an amber color with and oak aroma. Flavor was oak malts caramel and nutty as well. Good spices in there as well, alcohol was very well hidden. was this really flying fish??????
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 eaglefan538 (2735) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - OCT 12, 2007
Draft at KSBF07, blasted my preconceptions about FF. Pour was amber to orange in color. Aroma was oaky toasted marzen style malts. Flavor was also nicely toasted oaky malts following with some vanilla, caramel, and nuts. Aftertaste left some zingy type notes (spice sensation?), alcohol smooth for the abv, though. My #2 beer from the fest.

[KSBF 07] Poured a lightly hazy, dark amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts, vanilla, light wood, nuts, and a touch of alcohol. Taste was sweet, caramel malts, light toast, some citrus fruits, with low bitterness, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Thanks to Casey for bringing a truely rare beer to the Kennett Connoisseur session this year!
