COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust dark brew has been created using rich Columbian dark roast coffee to celebrate our 10th anniversary in royal fashion. The enticing regal aromas of toffee and licorice lead to the coronation of taste; a palate of malty richness exhibiting chocolate and coffee notes, balanced by the noble and novel Mt. Rainer hop, all topped with a rich creamy crown. This very special offering will warm your soul and lift your spirits. Oh yeah, it also packs a royal kick at 8% alcohol.

Draft at the Grey Lodge in Philly. Nice solid porter. Good rasty flavor that wasn’t too overpowering. Alcohol was hidden very well.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown coffee color with a big fat 1 finger head. The aroma is that of coffee roast (duh), molasses, brown sugar, and slight leather. The head recedes rather quckly and leaves minimal lace as it settles. Medium mouthfeel. Sweeter than I anticipated with a mild dark chocolate start that gives way to a more medium roast style flavor of coffee. For being an imperial it doesn’t really have that over the top booze flavor that some get. Enjoyable but I’d have liked to see a more coffee forward flavor in this to really put it over the top.

Bottle courtesy of Stephen on 06/28/2010. I wrote down "Flying Dog Imperial Espresso Stout" but I think this is the right one. Clear dark brown body with a small tan had. Sweet roast and coffee aroma. Big coffee flavor with some roast and chocolate. Medium body with low carbonation.

this is a local favorite of mine. taken the flying fish tour many times. this is one of my favorite coffee flavored beers. taste is pure coffee with a lite hint of chocolate. a bit thin on the palate but it is a porter not a stout so thats to be expected.

12oz bottle from footbalm, thanks!
Appearance: Black, almost opaque with a creamy light tan head that dissipates quickly
Aroma: Coffee, roasted malts and chocolate
Taste: Roasted malts and coffee. Leaves a light medicinal taste on the tongue
Silky mouthfeel, the 8% alcohol doesn’t come through.

Tap: dark pour with tan head, nice cofee and smoky malts, notes of chocolate, prunes and cherries. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but a nice beer all the same.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter. The color is actually dark brown and not black like I expected. The head was minimal. The smell was roasty but no coffee oddly enough. The taste also did not contain much coffee which I appreciated. This tasted more like a standard Baltic porter to me. Drink-ability was pretty good also.
