COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First released in 2002, and sold out in two weeks. A tribute to the classic Fest styles of Germany the O’Fish uses European malts hops and yeast. A beautiful reddish color, a savory malt profile and nice hop flavor, make this Fest beer quite drinkable. OktoberFish is great with food and especially great with Lederhosen.

Malts: Muessdoerffer Munich, Muessdoerffer Vienna, Pauls Amber, Dingemanns De-Bittered Black and Two-row pale
Hops: Horizon, Crystal
Yeast: Dusseldorf Alt
Original Gravity: 14.3 Plato
Formats: 1/2 kegs, 1/6 kegs, cask-conditioned
Availability: September 1 to November 1 (if it lasts that long)

On tap at Ortinos Restaraunt. Pours a translucent golden amber with a nice fluffy off white head that went away quickly though. Aroma is caramel and malts, light overall. Flavor is slightly earthy, malty and I was even picking up a little alcohol and citrus in the taste.

Bottle. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and a little cellar funk, earth and toffee with lemoncit and yeast. Lovely copper-amber pour with a creamy eggshell head. Taste is heavy caramel and lemon, earth and dark toffee, predominately dry with a touch of corn and brown sugar. Faint bitter chocolate. Bready aftertaste, light-bodied. Not really a pitch-perfect Alt, and I’m having problems classing this as an Oktoberfest/Maerzen, but it is really quaffable.

Orangish pour with bubbly light head and lace. Sweet maltish aorma. Semi sweet malt, a hint of lemon, with a light medium bitter finish. Medium bodied with a slight foaminess. Decent drinker.

The aroma is grainy with hay/grass like hops. The appearance is light amber with a small head. The taste is like the aroma with a paper quality to it. The palate is smooth. Overall an average beer.

A woody aroma. Nice red-orange appearance. Flavor is quite malty, with a little sugar near the end. Pretty good.

Bottle split with BigTony. Pours a clear amber body with small white lacing. Aroma is light malt. Taste is sweet malt, pretty bland.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 1, 2012
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a small soapy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was barely present but was tart and dryish with faint fruity hops. Bland flavor with barely detectable notes of dry malts, tangy yeastiness and a touch of nut. Short dry and yeasty finish. Medium body. Blah.

Great copper coloured body with a perfectly dense tan head. This is exactly what you’d want a autumn beer to look like! Aroma of fresh low a.a. hops, citrus, nuts, malt, toffee and some caramel. Medium-bodied; Strong nuttiness up front with some metal and blood tastes. Aftertaste shows some caramel and other sweetness, but hardly any character, malt or hops. Overall, a decent beer-I’m not sure why this is classified as an Alt, but it really doesn’t matter-this one doesn’t deliver. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 19-December-2004.

12oz from MrBendo - thanks, Todd! Very fine example of a style I usually don’t care for. Very fruity and colorful malt presence is what does it, drinkable but rich with a mild spice (from hops or additional ingredients) that’s just the ticket.

12oz bottle. Amber color, thin white head. Clean malt aroma, smells fresh. Herbal flavor, nice malt character. Full bodied. (3539)
