COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First released in 2002, and sold out in two weeks. A tribute to the classic Fest styles of Germany the O’Fish uses European malts hops and yeast. A beautiful reddish color, a savory malt profile and nice hop flavor, make this Fest beer quite drinkable. OktoberFish is great with food and especially great with Lederhosen.

Hops: Horizon, Crystal
Yeast: Dusseldorf Alt
Original Gravity: 14.3 Plato
Formats: 1/2 kegs, 1/6 kegs, cask-conditioned
Availability: September 1 to November 1 (if it lasts that long)

Bottle. The pour was a hazy brown with an orange hue and had an average sized (1-2 finger) off white rocky head that was mostly diminishing leaving behind a nice amount of residue allowing for some good lacing. The aroma off the bat was of a piney hop with a toasted biscuit malt and a horse blanket scented yeast and also had a nice hint of caramel. It tasted moderately sweet and malty at first then progressed into a sweet hopped up malty flavor with a nice note of caramel at the end that left the flavor lasting a nice long time after the swallow. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and slightly watery in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall a very flavorful brew and a nice interpretation of the style.

Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a copper red color with a billowy head of two fingers of just off white foam. The head fades rather quickly leaving a lighter level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is sweet with a good showing of caramel and some fruit of cherry and plum. Along with these aromas comes notes of a roasted malt and a little bit of a grainy and hay-like smell. Taste – The taste begins with a roast malt flavor and plenty of caramel and brown sugar flavors. There is a little bit of a fruity flavor of cherry and a little bit of apple. The fruit starts out light, but gets stronger as the taste advances on further. All the while, the roast increases a bit and is joined by some spice and a little bit of a nut. While the roast increases from the start initially, it fades again at the end and with more sweet caramel and some fruit coming to the tongue, one is left with a rather sweet and lightly toasty flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is on the thinner side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. The feel is very nice for the fruity, sweet, and light roasted and nutty flavors of the brew and make for an easy drinker. Overall – This is a rather enjoyable and easy drinking October fest with a rather sweet malty taste and a little bit of fruit and roast.

Poured at bar in pint glass a copper with a quick head and some lace. Aroma was cereal, malts. Taste was sweet malt with cereal and some caramels. Med body, smallest of hop bitterness at finish with a sweet malt aftertaste. Not mind blowing but solid fall beer.

rich malts, toasted, with just a touch of hops for balance. even though it’s the weakest of the 3 we just had, still average. "

Bottle - Dry hop flavor with a little to much sweetness from the malt for my likeing. They say this one sells out quickly but I don’t understand why. It has the off taste to it, maybe its the malt they use.

Pours a clear amber amber with smallish head. Typical fest aroma of caramel and bready malts. A bit sweet with soapiness in the middle. A decent fest beer.
