On tap at the Lehigh Valley Brew Fest ’04. Poured a dark reddish/brown color with an off white head. Aroma and tastes of chocolate and roasted malts. Smooth body. Nothing special but nothing bad.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pigfoot (2267) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 5, 2004
Appearance: deep black color, short, tan head.
Aroma: interesting, ...ripe with dark fruits, raisins, dates, a hint of anise, not much more, a bit light, missing the usual coffee/chocolate connotations.
Taste: high carbonation, little impact on the palate, negligible finish. Hardly as hearty as I demand out of a porter...too light in body, too little in the texture...misses the depth and flavor I expect...but I’ll give it it’s due, and not put it up against great standards. A nicely quaffed, easy, mellow-flavored, session-brew porter.

Bottle. NIce porte. very dark, coffee taste with a little chocolate. I found this to be not as watery as others have said. Good job Flying Fish
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 BrianO (138) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 7, 2004
Good porters are hard to find and this is a good porter and frankly way underrated. Has a subtle malt and chocolate aroma with a nice chocolate flavor with a mild smokiness. Robust but yet easy drinking. Creamy soft mouthfeel. Well done.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Nate (3093) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 24, 2004
Nice malty smoky aroma. Chocolate malts. Dark brown clear with thin off-white head. Medium-bodied with light carbonation. Light malty start, with roasty acidic tang, chocolate, coffee. Medium bitter after and finish. Light alcohol, fruity after.

This beer rocks! I love it! ... Crystal clear, dark, crimson ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The nose is of vanilla, milk chocolate and Kahlua. Nice, roasty flavor with plenty of balance. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. World class brew. Underrated!
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jeffc666 (1984) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - AUG 6, 2004
Dark ruby body with an extremely cola looking head. The aroma is roased malt, some sweetness, and a bit of citrus hops. The flavor is very malty, dry roasted malt primarily, with some sweetness. Not very complex. Body is a bit on the light side.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rastacouere (5923) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 5, 2004
Deep brown. Nice foamy tan head. Creamy mouthfeel, smooth. Typical porter nose with sweet chocolate and mild roastiness. Sweet on the tongue, milky, chocolatey, cookie-ish. Reminiscent of an oatmeal stout at times. Very subdued hop presence. Bigger than most with lots of traits resembling a sweet stout, but unfortunately becomes less and less interesting sips after sips. Complexity is just lacking.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 run20six2 (119) - USA - JUL 28, 2004
Pretty dark beer. Good tasting with not too much aftertaste. A little thick but great tasting.

Deep red. Ludicrously overcarbonated, 100% head at first. Palate didn’t suffer too bad, was still OK. Nose roasty, light chocolate, flavor similar, a decent bitterness at the end.
