COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust, smooth and full bodied with prominent chocolate notes. Five different malts from both the U.S. and Belgium and three varieties of hops (all from the Pacific Northwest) are required to give the beer its unique character.

This is one of the best porters that I have had. The pour was excellent a nice light brown head which sat on the cloudy dark brown body. The amoma was like roasted chocolate. This one had a creamy texture and a nice following of hops.

This beer pours into the glass a cocoa brown with ruby like qualities. The head was of a beige/tan color that was foamy and lasted. The aroma was of roasted malt, caramel, some fruit, hops, chocolate, a little yeast and raisins. The taste changed with each taste, I believe it had to do with the temperature, whether I held the glass or let it sit on the table. It showed signs of a light roasted malt, chocolate coffee, raisins, slight alcohol and occasional hops. The tastes always changed making it hard to pin down a dominate flavor. But if I had to say…it would be malt (chocolate and roasted). Not a bad porter. From reading the other reviews this beer seems to change with age or bottle vs. tap. But it is not bad.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2004 Very heavy beer. Can taste hints of chocolate and coffee. Drink slowly, it fills you up!

I tasted chocolate, coffee, caramel and I think raisins...Mmm Not too hoppy, but smooth, and no harsh aftertaste like other Porters I’ve tasted.

I am not going to add much to what’s already been said. I am a porter fan, but the vaguely pastryish/doughy aroma alluded to in another review interfered with the experience of the beer. Overall it was a decent beer, but I would not order it again.
