puboflyons (388), New Hampshire, USA Jun 25, 2008 Poured from a growler. It poured a very dark brown to almost black with a puffy tan head. It leaves a good amount of lacing. The aroma is of cocoa, chocolate, malts, and some hops. Medium motuhfeel and creamy on the tongue. The hops are quite noticeable. It finishes dry. I thought it was pretty good. jimhilt (1428), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jul 30, 2006 On-tap at the brewpub in New London, NH. Two finger tan head that fades slowly leaving a trace of lace. Almost black color. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Chocolate/coffee nose. Starts with a bitter chocolate/coffee flavor, hints of sweetness, bakers chocolate finish. beerbuzzmontreal (2747), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 6, 2005 Clear dark brown color with no head. Aroma of roasted malt and licorice. Very average flavor of roasted malt. The palate is light and dry. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 31, 2005 Strong roasty aroma with some herbal notes. Medium brown colour with shy off-white head that recedes to ring. Flavour is predominantly roasty, thin and vinous with a sour grape character that sticks to the tongue. Medium light body with very low carbonation. Another beer from this brewpub that seems stale or oxidised and not fully fermented. Sampled at the brewpub with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere.
MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 28, 2005 Burnt toast emulating ashes...Watery thin body and dunkel-like appearance...A frown appears on the taster’s face as sourness surges...
