Moving out of KS rate-a-poolza. 12oz bottle poured into a Big Eddy globe. No date but purchased out of fridge in store.
Eh, this beer stinks, why am I doing this to myself. Amber colored, small head. Vegetal and stale hops with old malts. Just tastes bad and no fun. Can’t drink it long.

2013/02/13 - pours a clear amber/gold color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet malts, cereal and tart apples. Taste is similar to nose with a tart aftertaste. Thin to medium mouthfeel. Not what I want in an amber ale.

Sadly, this is one of Flying Monkey’s best beers. They manage to limit the off flavors in this one to a little bit of creamed corn. More sweet than I would’ve expected with a thicker mouthfeel. Sessionable if it only tasted better.

Bottle at home, from my Minneapolis Town Hall glass. Pours clear deep red/amber, thin white head, poor lacing. Nose is green apples and candy. Flavour are more of the same. Poor effort.

Originally reviewed: 4/23/09. Pours a darker gold with very little head on top. Retention is lacking as is any sort of lacing or webbing. Smells of corn, biscuits, and vegetation. Reminds me of a lager...
Mouthfeel is nice and crisp which aids drinkability. Flavor is of buttered corn, malty breads, and finishes slightly bitter. Is this really an Amber Ale? Everything about this tells me this is a lager. Weird. Drinkability is surprisingly high. It’s a good thirst-quencher.
This beer gets low scores by my judging it according to style. As an "Amber," this is horrible, but as a "beer" this is actually pretty good. If this was labelled as a lager, my scores would be much higher. Get your styles right, Flying Monkey!
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 probstblueribbon (2378) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 24, 2011
355 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: hazy light amber with a decent light tan foam.
Aroma: Fruity caramel, slightly nutty and earthy, slightly old apple juice, kinda sweet and malty, some biscuit malt notes, a touch tight due to serving temperature.
Palate: Medium body, creamy effervescence with a few sharp bubbles.
Flav.: Sweet, malty and fruity, light caramel, earthy/nutty notes, more fruitiness, sweeter than the nose would imply, a bit British, not bad but not terribly interesting; off-dry with minimal bitterness and a pleasant and simple sweet malty finish.
Meh, not bad.
