I find that stouts and porters are difficult to separate, they all look fairly similar. This one is nice - quite black with a medium brown head. Flavor has plenty of roasted malt. Is quite dry with roast in the finish. Palate is maybe a touch thin, but not overly so. Really enjoyed this one! TaktikMTL (2771), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Aug 30, 2007 The label looked like Gerry Garcia playing a Flying Monkey from the Wizard of Oz. The beer pours a deep mahogany with a small tan head. Notes of sweet caramel malt, bitter coffee, smoke, and chocolate. Medium body. The flavor was bittersweet. An average beer. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany

Pour a thin, beige head with an opaque body. Nose of strong molasses and coffee. Flavours of very smoked malt and mild unsweetened chocolate. I’m rather impressed - seems like a smoked porter on coffee wings. Very likable! after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA

Humongous smoky nose, charred, a bit of anise. Lightish body, slightly fizzy, very forward smoke and char and anise on the attack--these flavors persist through the mid-palate. Kind of a hollow, ashy finish. hopdog (5555), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
