4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
[5045-20121231] Cask. Candied roast fruit and light coffee aroma. Black body with a quick creamy tan head. Chocolate coffee toffee flavour has a powerful roast note which neatly covers up the alcohol. Full body. Really interesting, great balance. (8/4/8/4/17) 4.1

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012-12-31. Black body with a nice brown head. Aroma is alcoholic and interesting, coffee, oats, whispers of mushrooms is probably not quite the right word. 6++ Flavour is similarly boozy, pretty interesting, kind of a strange melange of flavours that are a bit muddled, and/or not decipherable by me at this point. Light alcohol, mild roast and dark malt. Average bodied palate is decent but feels a bit light for the beer. Okay. On tap at Volo, Toronto

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On cask at Volo. Black, lacey. Looks good, though really boozy in the aroma (more like fumes) and finish. Like rubbing alcohol poured in boozy.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smells like milk chocolate from the get-go. Pours pitch black with some foam that disappears quickly. Pretty thick palate without being syrupy. Lots of booze in the aftertaste here. Some bitterness from the booze as well as sweetness. It’s ok, but not quite as balanced as the Barenaked ladies beer and a little less body. On cask at volos.
