COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Suburbia gets a bad rap. Without Suburbia, so many of us wouldn’t have the teenage culture or common unifying experiences that gave us something to rebel against. Brewed with late addition hops, and just enough malt to provide a smooth, bready body, Genius of Suburbia ISA is a quirky suburban brew that still makes a statement against brewing conformity.

355 ml bottle purchase at the Boisbriand SAQ on May 8, 2016. Clear blonde, small head. Light crisp hoppy aroma, not much else. Far more flavorful, dry hoppiness with a touch of orange blossom, very bitter. Not bad, but needs more stuff!

Pours a slightly hazy straw color with medium white head. Aroma is fruity and spicy, bready, floral and citrusy, but mild. Taste follows the aroma, citrusy, bready, floral and herbal, with a slightly spiciness and a moderate bitter aftertaste.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2016 Another newcomer at the SAQ, hooray! Pours a clear golden with a small/thin white head that leaves some lacing. Nose was a whiff of fresh hops during the first few seconds but quickly transformed into caramel-ish bread and pepper. Taste is moderately bitter and not too sweet. A bit brash, even. Pine, light fruits, pepper. For sure this has seen some warehouse time before it hit the shelves as it doesn’t feel that fresh/vibrant. Good job, SAQ! God forbid we test them quick and put them as fast as possible on the shelves... Light acidic twang in the finish. Body is light to medium, carbonation moderately high and mouthfeel almost watery. Not bad but certainly not great, I will rerate someday maybe if I can get my hands of a fresh one.

Bottle (355 ml) bought at an SAQ store. Slightly hazy pale green-ish yellow with a small white head leaving some lacing. Aroma is mild with cereals, mild spiciness, light fruity/citrusy presence and floral notes. Taste is also mild and mostly herbal and peppery (soft) forward with crisp cereals and very mild bitterness. Light body. Soft carbonation. Citrusy and peppery finish. It’s far from a game changer but at that price it’s a pretty decent low abv option. The peppery yeast presence, while the most expressive feature, isn’t too harsh for the delicate body. Tasty wheat ale.

Eructoblaster (3640) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 2, 2016
Bottle - 355ml. Limpid golden body with an average white foamy head. Fresh malty/hoppy aroma with piney hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries malty, piney, herbal, and citrusy notes. Ends with a long, dry bitter/herbal finish. Simple, enjoyable Session IPA.

Beardbeerman (311) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 1, 2016
Pours a hazy gold topped by two fingers of coarse, bright white head showing great retention and leaving chunky lacing. Vivid carbobation with small bubbles. The nose is fruity and grassy with pink grapefruit, lemon zest, a bit of resin. All that supported by a fresh bready backbone. The taste is fresh lemon zest and grapefruit. herbs and faint bready malts. Medium body, pleasant bitteness, the finish carries the hops away with a lingering mineral feature. Efficient, refreshing. Cheers!

OK hoppy beer, drinkable but not terrific. Good hop aroma. Medium mouthfeel. LCBO bottle.

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. Light, mostly citric, some tropical fruits. Low sweetness, mostly bitter. Oily texture, could take some more carbonation.
