Spruce, hops, smooth, loads of flavour off the get-go. A very interesting example of an IPA, but not your typical IPA.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cirrhosis (1085) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 12, 2012
Dark amber with a massive crown floating on top reducing to the always popular nipple cap. Lacing is ridiculous!! BIG citrus aroma, lemon, orange peel, a sharpness is here but what is it? Taste is not as good as the aroma seems watered down and thinner but still yummy. Hoppy bitterness with a light citrus flavor, malts are smooth and nondescript. The after taste is all wood. I could drink this all day long.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2013 Delicious. Pours a dark orange with creamy white head. Good retention. Lots of nice juicy aromas. Pineapple, peach, and citruses. Malty caramel flavours up front. Bitterness throughout. Great balance. Great beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (3383) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 1, 2012
First of all, I have to admire the amazing artwork on the label. Now, a 355ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a small white head which leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is light citrus and flowery notes with a light toasty grain. Taste is bold citrus hop bitterness with a nice balance of sweetness from the malts and also a light roastiness from the darker grains. Light to medium body with adequate carbonation. Quite a pleasing amber style ale and recommend others to try it out as well.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DeanF (1602) - Nunavut, CANADA - MAY 26, 2012
Average looks with a heavily carbonated body and a small darker-than-usual white head on top. Aroma is a lot of hops, softer than an IPA or something similar and very sweet hops at that. Flavour is sweet hoppiness with just a hint of malty goodness underneath. Good for sessioning, good thing I bought a six pack.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 cmc619 (328) - California, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Nice pour from bottle into jar-like glass. Beer is dark bronze--almost light brown. Definitely darker than a normal pale ale (hence the name?). Huge head that sticks for a while. Aroma is deep, rich balance of piney hops and malt. Pretty bitter. Nice beer. You’d expect it to be a lot higher in ABV--impressed that they packed this much flavor into it.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 baldric (14) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 22, 2012
Nice amber to copper colour. Hazy, good head and lacing.
Cloudy appearance but doesn’t detract from the flavour. Quite the opposite. It has a palate pleasing character that I love that most crystal clear heavily filtered beers in its category don’t possess. Kudos to Flying Monkeys for not over-filtering it. Easy drinking for a dry hopped beer, a nice session beer for sure. Well done.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 joeycapps (1468) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - APR 27, 2012
Dark orange-amber w/ auburn hue. Pillowy, off-white finger of foam. Fresh, breezy, citrusy aroma w/ an underlying sweetness. Creamy feel, but the alcohol numbs in the finish. Flavour profile has potential--it is sufficiently earthy & bitter--but alcohol dominates the finish, giving the beer slightly unpleasant, medicinal quality. A relatively decent brew.
