On cask. Cloudy brown. Aroma of wet pine, cherries, tangerine. Sticky medium body. Sickly sweet. Sweet long finish overpowers any hop bitterness. Leaves the aftertaste of an orange licqueur, and the sticky syrup in your throat. Terrible, unless you’re looking for a beer to ply 18 year old girls with.

This beer does two things very well. The first would be it’s gimmic which is the cider wood chips. Gives this ipa a new dimension and a real cigar box feel. Although this flavor is quite dominant in this ipa the taste the cedar chips invoke really complement the hops in this Beer. The malt is still present but it’s sweetness is more subdued in contrast to other dominant flavours. Although the malt might not be upfront it manages to bring that heavier body you get in an IIPA. If you are going to go this heavy handed with cedar chips this was the right style to try it out in. Really enjoyable.

Bottled @ ZZT 9, small sample. Hazy orange color, short head. Aroma of loads of cedar wood, slight flowery hop. Bit sweet, caramel. Bit spicy. Interesting combination, but the cedar wood overwhelms it a bit.

Bottle @ ZZT 9 thanks to Dutchdrebus. Clear orange color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, bitter, pine, cedar wood. Aftertaste has a lot of cedar wood. Well I like it, but some might find the cedar overwhelming. Still, very nice.

750ml bottle. Slightly cloudy orangey copper colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, decently lacing, off-white head. Fruity hoppy aroma with hints of red berries, orange and a touch of exotic fruit on caramel malty background. Taste is initially fruity and bitter hoppy, red berries, orange with caramel malty background, some toffee, later a woody note comes in and gains more weight the closer the finish; additionally a touch of warming alcohol in the finish. Not as citrusy hoppy as one could expect. Solid but not overly exciting.

Orangish colour with a foamy off-white head with good duration and nice lacework. Aroma has notes os slightly citrus, barrel notes, some spices and fruits. Flavor has hints of bittery oranges and tangerine, good maltiness, some caramel and ripe sirupy fruit to complete a decent bitterness. The final has a moderate bitterness with barrel notes.

75 cl bottle. Bottled 04.04.2013.
Pours clear mahogany color with a small head. Aroma is very sweet and sugary, some apricot and mild peach, sweet caramel malts, honey and faint toffee. very rich and pleasant aroma. Flavor of sweet caramel malts, sweetish fruits, toffee, brown sugar and mild syrupy notes. Some wooden notes linger on the aftertaste. Seems that the most edgy notes of hops have disappeared already, but as a American Strong Ale or even a Barley Wine this works quite smoothly. Sweet lingering caramelly palate with a mild boozy kick at the end. A slow sipper. Would like to taste this fresh also.

750 ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy orange copper colour with a white head. Aroma of sweet apricot, wood, caramel and hay. Strong and pungent wooden flavour with floral bitterness, apricot, grass, toffee and biscuit. Alcohol warms nicely. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel and a warming, bitter, dry finish. Quite heavy and sweet. Not that much of a DIPA anymore, pretty much a barleywine by now.

bottle. Poured deep amber wit a rocky off-white head. Spicy hop aroma with a hint of vanilla. Medium-full body with creamy carbonation that leads up to a warming alcohol finish. Flavour of orange citrus, woody vanilla notes and bitter piney hops. A nice sipper for the cold weather.
