4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Half pint at the Loon. Hazy amber with a so-so white head. Lots of cedar, peppery, lots of grapefruit, tropical fruits...mango comes to mind with the pepperiness, pineapple, fruity, juicy, delicious. Medium + body, somewhat sparse and prickly effervescence. Quite a bit of Cesar with tons of delicious, juicy cirrus and tropical fruits, quite peppery, beautiful; lightly sweet with good bitterness and a long peppery, cedar, grapefruit finish. Beautiful stuff!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a snifter. Pours hazy orange-amber with a moderate, dense off-white head that mostly remains and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has big piney and citric hops with elegant cedar wood notes, nice caramel malts and a touch of toffee. The flavour is fairly well balanced with a slight favouring of the hops. Sweet toffee and caramel are paired up with delicate fruity hops and rounded out with cedar for extra complexity. The finish is long, woody and slightly hoppy with a lingering pepperiness. On the palate it is medium-full in body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice cedar-aged imperial IPA. It is surprisingly complex and the cedar ties it together nicely. 2013-08-30

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle courtesy of Eyrish and shared with Atom. Opaque burnt orange, foamy off-white head settles and fades. Rich malt aroma, earthy citrus and herbal woodiness. Sweet spiced wooded caramel malt taste, floral citric hops, some grapefruit. Soft carbonation, medium-full bodied, aggressively hopped. Potent and warming, yet ABV is well hidden. Interesting and DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ home, from the state Liquor store in Toronto.
Pours clear orange copper, with thick finely-bubbled white head.
Nose fairly heated with the bitterness, but some white grapes present.
Taste is full and rounded: calvados, raisins, fresh little sour, bitter without being overly hoppy. Fairly dry, the wood talking here. Wood layering can be really in your face, but here it is very modestly pleasant. Could linger a bit more.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear classic golden color with a very large, long-lasting off-white head. Grassy nose with just a bit of a sting in the nostrils. Mouthfeel is slick with a bit of scrub and slight burn at the finish. Relatively sweet taste for the style. Some Spruce needles and cedar flavors. Quite a bit of alcohol at the finish. A respectable, but peculiar beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the brewery. Pours a hazy orange amber with a generous off white head that leaves a lot of lace. Cedar is dominant in the nose backed by citrus and vanilla and some honey sweetness. Quite sweet and spicy at the start with a nice bitter finish. Creamy with about average carbonation. The alcohol is quite noticeable in the finish. The cedar adds some interesting notes tho this but it is a little sweet and not quite what I was expecting from a 2xIPA from Flying Monkeys.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a hazy amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some excellent lacing. Aroma consists of bitter citrus hops with light spicy notes. Taste is also dominated by spicy peppery notes with some citrus heavy notes with some herbal notes as well. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. This is an interesting experiment with cedars which seems to provide the peppery notes. I found that there was maybe a tad too much astringency though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is strong cedar, citrus, some sweet caramel, herbal and mildly spicy. The flavor has more cedar, spices, touch of citrus, caramel, dry finish. Interesting brew, just missing that something to push it over the top.

Quite good. Not cheated on the cedar aroma and flavour much more cedar than the cigar city cedar ipa. Not sure if it is better because of this Butkus quite good
