Pours a dark brown with beige head and some lacing. Aroma roasted malts, coffee, citrusy hops. Taste is roasted, light coffee notes, citrus, well balanced bitterness. Medium body and medium carbonation. Enjoyable.

Keg at West 50, Ontario. 3rd may 2013. This is a lovely BIPA. Smooth and full of flavour , reminded me a bit Magic Rock 8ball. Good beer

Small head with an insignificant scent of roast and black licorice. Light, creamy texture with mild carbonation. Rigorous coffee and dark chocolate taste (emphasis on the coffee, as this lingers for quite a while), followed by some minor hops. Delicious beer.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2013 Great beer but a easy session beer as well. Also surprisingly available at many "The Beer Store" locations in Ontario. For those outside of Ontario "The Beer Store" generally sells many crap water down beers.Keep it up Flying Monkeys!!

Bouteille 355ml. De couleur brune foncée et quasi-opaque. Nez de houblon citrique (pamplemousse), moyennement herbeux et aux notes résineuses et fruitées (agrumes), de malt rôti avec des notes de chocolat noir ainsi que de faibles de traces de café et de biscuits. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture légèrement huileuse et aux petites notes crémeuses. Goût moyennement amer de houblon citrique, légèrement herbeux et aux notes fruitées (agrumes) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de malt rôti avec des notes de chocolat noir et de biscuits puis en finale l’amertume de houblon prend une tournure légèrement plus herbeuse, moyennement asséchante et aux petites notes résineuses. Post-goût long-moyen et moyennement sec, moyennement amer de houblon citrique, herbeux et aux notes résineuses avec un léger goût rôti ainsi qu’avec des notes de café et des traces de chocolat noir.

Nice and dark roasty notes offered in this black IPA make it a good example of an american black ipa.

It’s a dandy looking beer, nice and dark with a moderate to low tan head. Wow, aroma is initially just loads of resiny, citrusy hops, but if you stick with it, you start to get the roasty malt as well. Really interesting. Toasted cereal in there as well. And what is going on in the taste? Bitter, yep. Finishes out with more malt than hop, though and leaves you wanting another sip to figure out what you’ve been tasting. Could use a bit more lingering aftertaste. And it would perhaps be just a little less dry, to my taste anyway. Overall, interesting beer.

355mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks Mike), pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan / light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and citrus hops upfront - pretty standard for a black IPA. Flavour is also fairly typical, but well-executed, for a black IPA, with roasted malt upfront, followed by dry hoppy bittering which lingers on the finish. Nothing special about this, but it does what it does very competently. Solid stuff.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2013 Sweet fruity across the palate with a bitter coffee finish. Interesting beer with a cool cover.
