COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heeding a chorus of voices crying for a dark roasty thing with lots of west coast hops and a higher ABV, we summoned Netherworld from the chaotic flipside of the brewhouse where hybrid is the norm and nothing is ordinary. Hovering just this side of evil, in the right hands, our «Cascadian Dark Ale» is bizarrely nice with its own entrancing mojo. However, watch out for those who refuse to see the darkness.

Review according to BJCP2008 (style 14B - adapted). Bottle 35.5cl - Batch ?. AROMA: nice hop aroma with citrusy, floral, resinous and pine notes. low malty background. APPEARANCE: dark ruby color with light brown, creamy, persistant head. clear. TASTE: high hop flavour with floral and piney notes. low malt flavour with slight coffee notes in the aftertaste. High bitterness that lingers into the aftertaste. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. No astringency. OVERALL: a nice IPA derived beer. maybe should have more roasted flavours and flavours.

Bottle. Pours deep ruby-red, somewhat lighter than a typical Schwarzbier, with a thin off-white head. Aromas of roasted malts, brown sugar and spruce hops. The taste is much hoppier and more complex than traditional Schwarzbier or dark lager, albeit somewhat less malty than I like in the style. Finely carbonated and robust body. Nice one.

Bottle 33 cL. Cloudy black with substantial amount of "swimmers" (hop?). Fine layer of dark beige foam. In the nose a very nice aroma of coffee balanced with citrusy/flowery hop notes. In the taste you first get the hops, then the roast character and in the aftertaste an assertive bitterness primarily from the hops. Here is where the grassiness appears, although not to overpowering. Balance is quite good. I’d prefer a little less roast, but that’s just preference.

Pour at Tall Boys carnival is chalk board black with a nice dark cap on top. Great blend of roast malts, cocoa & thick hops. May be the best pour at this hipster heavy beer fest.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head with very good lasting and nice lacework. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, light nutty and fresh hops. Flavor has a decent bitterness, some citrus notes, moderate maltyness with toasted and candy sugar traces. The final is bittery with toasted notes. Very enjoyable!

Much more bitter than a Guinness. Along the lines of a Wellington Imperial Russian Stout. 6% abv. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
