COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heeding a chorus of voices crying for a dark roasty thing with lots of west coast hops and a higher ABV, we summoned Netherworld from the chaotic flipside of the brewhouse where hybrid is the norm and nothing is ordinary. Hovering just this side of evil, in the right hands, our «Cascadian Dark Ale» is bizarrely nice with its own entrancing mojo. However, watch out for those who refuse to see the darkness.

Love the style. Pours (a little pale) brown with a medium head. Aroma is filled with Cascade hops, floral, citrusy. Light to medium body - Was hoping a fuller body for a BIPA. Very good beer!

Pours a dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma is roasted malt and nice earthy hops. Taste is smokey roasted malt, small coffee hints and a smooth hop bitterness. Nice beer.

Disappointed this is not available to me outside of the OCB mix pack. Very bright and fruity hops combined with a very nicely rounded porter-esque coffee and chocolate body. Refreshing and "wholesome" at the same time.

Bottle from mix pack. Pours dark brown with big brown head. Good lacing. Overall decent beer. Would like to see more hops come through. I was expecting more hops.

341 mL bottle. Opaque chestnut brown, with a small beige head. Strong hoppy aroma (1. resin, 2. citrus), but there is a some chocolate and cigar smoke underneath the greenery. Interesting. These elements continue in the mouth, where they are joined by some roast. Not too sweet at all. Bitterness throughout from the hops and roast. Dryish. Medium body. Interesting beer.

Appearance - very dark near opaque cherry red colour, light brown bubbly head. Aroma - lovely nose, quite roasty and hoppy, dark fruits, a bit vinous, bitter chocolate. Aroma - lovely nose, quite roasty and hoppy, dark fruits, a bit vinous, bitter chocolate. Palate/Flavour - body has medium-light weight, medium presence, creamy and sticky, flavours much like the nose, is nice and hoppy, touches of soy sauce, like a porter and IPA in one, a cloying hoppy vinous finish.

Draught. Deep mahogany brown with a creamy long lasting foam. Rich brew with a medium mouthfeel. Roasted malt, slight vanilla with faint coffee.. a good brew. I would be happy to pick up a 6 of this.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2012 On tap at the Kitchener Ribfest. Almost opaque dark brown, mocha head. Aroma is of nice coffee and roasted malts with some okay hop presence. I kind of expected more hops. Flavour is really not very impressive at all. Sweet and sour sauce upfront, roasty malts, cooked vegetables, with a disappointing hop presence in the finish. Really kind of a let down since I have a pretty high opinion of this brewery. Nothing works in this beer, the hopping doesn’t match the malt body at all, and the off flavours really take over and ruin the better aspects. A bad batch maybe? I sure hope so. Didn’t help that I had to choose this after hearing that all their Smashbomb was gone, which was the one freaking beer I came to the fest to try. Not impressed at all. EDIT: Had on tap at the UW grad house today and it was much more in line with what I’m assuming they were going for. Very tasty, in a nutshell, a hopped up porter. Awesome prickly hop feel and flavour along with bitter roasted malts. Well done. Rating is combined from each experience.

On tap at Chancey Smiths, London. Pours dark, with a white head. The hop aroma is unusual for a beer this colour. Nice roast flavour, with good body, and a great hop finish. Very nice indeed.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2010 Bottle of the third and latest tweak: Pours a dark brown ale with amber highlights. frothy 2 finger off-white cap lasts. Decent lacing on the glass. Aromas of cocoa and lemons, some grapefruit, toffee and fresh roast coffee...different! Front side is mellow and chewy with roasty-caramel malts balanced perfectly with lemon bittering, mid palate some fruit and roasty-nuttiness, goes dry in the finish with resinous bittering and charred husk astringence. Medium body, sandy-dry mouthfeel, smooth rounded character... a very approachable and quenching dark ale that defies classification.
