COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heeding a chorus of voices crying for a dark roasty thing with lots of west coast hops and a higher ABV, we summoned Netherworld from the chaotic flipside of the brewhouse where hybrid is the norm and nothing is ordinary. Hovering just this side of evil, in the right hands, our «Cascadian Dark Ale» is bizarrely nice with its own entrancing mojo. However, watch out for those who refuse to see the darkness.

Bottle from The Beer store. Pours dark with beige head. Upfront chocolate and coffee malts. Nice bitterness in the middle and finish. Creamy mouth feel. I can’t decide if this or Atomic Smashbomb is my favourite from Flying Monkeys. Requires much more testing...

From the OCB Taster, 355ml bottle, 6% a/v Pours a really deep black with a ruby hue on holding it up to the light. The aroma is wickedly hoppy (and delicious), kind of like liberty ale from anchor. The taste is also remarkable, very hoppy but very well backed up by the toasted malts and spicy hints. Damn this is a tasty beer!! Palate stays with you and is great the whole way through. I LOVE this beer.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2010 Cask Days 2009 @ volo. dark brown with a soapy tan head. nicely cask carbonated. big hoppy aroma with some roasted malt backing. the hopping in this one is ample and really steals the show from the malts. good one, i hope it sees bottles as well.////////////////////bottled as of late fall early winter 2010. pretty much defines the black ipa style. pecfect winter session ale. well done FM!

(bottle) clear very dark maber with small tan head; aromas of dried longan, citrus; roasty flavour - like a good stout mixed with IPA, long medium bitter finish, excellent

355ml bottle. Pours dark, dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is hop heavy, citrus, dark malts, molasses, biscuit, faint coffee, and dried fruits. Taste is surprisingly big on coffee notes, molasses, dark malts, with a healthy hit of hops. Think hopped up porter. It seems I waited too long to try this guy out. It’s pretty great. Another fine beer from Flying Monkeys.

355ml bottle. Dark brown pour with ruby highlights at the edges. Smallish tan head. Roasted coffee malt and citrus, piney hops aroma. Roasted coffee and earthy bitterness, with some grapefruit and pine hops in the taste. Alcohol is masked well. Body is a little thin, but smooth. Overall, a nice tasting beer.

Keg at West 50, Ontario. 3rd may 2013. This is a lovely BIPA. Smooth and full of flavour , reminded me a bit Magic Rock 8ball. Good beer

Pours almost black with a hazel colored head...as the beer warmed...aromas included a little smoke, vanilla, and coffee. On the palate, intense hops and espresso. Very nice beer.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2010 Bottle of the third and latest tweak: Pours a dark brown ale with amber highlights. frothy 2 finger off-white cap lasts. Decent lacing on the glass. Aromas of cocoa and lemons, some grapefruit, toffee and fresh roast coffee...different! Front side is mellow and chewy with roasty-caramel malts balanced perfectly with lemon bittering, mid palate some fruit and roasty-nuttiness, goes dry in the finish with resinous bittering and charred husk astringence. Medium body, sandy-dry mouthfeel, smooth rounded character... a very approachable and quenching dark ale that defies classification.
