"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, it’s a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent that’s all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya – and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. It’s like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory malt’s signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, don’t be fooled --there’s malt going on here, too, as you’ll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbomb’s 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. It’s also incredibly drinkable. The oddity that’ll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddin’ bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, it’s all is so damn intriguing, you’ll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

bottle. Amber in color with average-sized frothy off-white head. Sparkling clear. Heavy hoppy aroma of spruce and citrus. Medium bodied with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Heavily bitter flavor, this is a real hop bomb. I enjoyed it.

Damn! Surprise of the year so far. One of the best IPA’s I’ve had in a long time. Aroma was strong grapefruit, lemon and notes of mango. Pour was a nice enough medium gold with a one finger film for a head. Taste was fantastic. On par with a West Coaster...strongly resinous with pine, grapefruit rind and burning bitterness. There is a slight maltiness that tames the strong bitter flavor just enough to make the beer complex. Nice carbonation and a slightly sticky, bitter almost sour finish.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder". haha, or so says the bottom of the beer cap. Clever. Holy hops is right! Little head is formed from pour, just a blanket covered brew, next to no lacing. Deep amber appearance. Aromas are strong, grains, lots of citrus names flying around. Lots of flavours as well, heavy on the hops, notes of lemon/lime and grapefruit. Pretty bitter at first. About halfway and the hops seem average (or above). Still well worth it!

12oz bottle. Pours golden orange with a white head. Nice head retention. Aroma is of hops, grapefruit, and caramel. Also smells very soapy. Taste is of hops, citrus, and caramel. Not the hop bomb I was expecting, but it is still very bitter. Lingering hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is very soapy, but still very dry. It’s good, I enjoyed it.

Dieu que l’étiquette est laide ! Pas mal sinon, amertume ample sur fond de fruits exotiques. Un peu trop acide et pas assez maltée. Agréable dégustation d’un début de WE ensoleillé

My first beer in canada. Nice body, golden colour and almost no head. The aroma has been a bit weak and actually funky, but the flavour is great. Nice finish of hops.

Grapefruit and biscuit on the nose with lots of citrus, lemon, pine and mango on the tongue. Well carbonated with a peppery, dry bitter finish. Outstanding.

Draught. Clear amber. Solid lacing. Aroma of biscuit, citrus, fruit, caramel, pine. Taste is sweet, and solid bitterness. Palate is sticky and a bit chewy, with a big bitter dry finish.

Nothing can match the true king of beer. Nothing. This is the type of Beer you savour. You spend 5 minutes just smelling it. And every sip is like liquid joy. Dozens of beers later and this remains my number 1. Too bad it's so hard to find up North.
