"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, it’s a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent that’s all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya – and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. It’s like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory malt’s signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, don’t be fooled --there’s malt going on here, too, as you’ll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbomb’s 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. It’s also incredibly drinkable. The oddity that’ll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddin’ bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, it’s all is so damn intriguing, you’ll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

Bottle. Pours golden copper with a small head that quickly fades to a ring with big bubbles. Great aroma of passion fruit, pine, grapefruit, melon, mango, and some light caramel. Tastes relatively sweet and juicy. Big grapefruit, melon, pineapple, and passionfruit. Stong caramel malt backbone. Strong bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Sharp carbonation. Very good IPA.

Look, I know the ipa and iipa styles are all supposed to be smashbomb atomic and this is certainly terribly on style. However, this needs to be rated by its name because smashbomb atomic ipa indicates a really good ipa. Well, this certainly does give you kick in the mouth like the best of them. If you like ipa, ignore my numbers. Mouth coating with little co2. Quite rude fer sure on the finish.

Bottle shared at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Tal Levi for this bottle! Hazy deep golden with an off-white head. Aroma of citric and piney hops, slightly stale, with a malty note. Flavor has light maltiness, slightly stale hops and big bitterness. Medium-bodied. Decent but could be fresher.

Bottle. Aromas are grainy, color is coppery and it behaves a lot like a slightly an amber that had been hopped more than normal. I wanted to like this one, but found it a very disappointing bottle.

Bottle shared by a friend. Pours dark copper with a small white head. Aroma was lots of citrus and floral hops but I also got some sweet malts in there with caramel and some cereal. Taste is grapefruit, orange, and caramel. It has a pretty balanced mixture of sweet and bitter throughout. Good IPA and my first time trying Flying Monkeys.

12oz bottle, big thanks to Scott L! Mostly clear orange amber color. Lots of fine darker particles provide for a slight haze to the body. Thin khaki head. Leaves good lace. Big aromatic nose. Losts of grapefruit citrus and some caramel malt. Good big spicy resiny grapefruit hop in the flavor, as well as an interesting biscuity malt. Light bit of caramel malt, some spiciness to it. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation. Lightly slick finish. Impressive IPA.. Particularly in the way that it differentiates itself from popular American IPAs... Has a much more pronounced amber malt profile than the typical pale west coast examples, but it’s not bothersome here. It’s very assertive, big, and hoppy for a 6% IPA, and most American examples at this gravity feel a bit light and weak. This is pretty assertive despite that ABV. Soild flavorful lighter ABV IPA. Dig the balance of malt / hops.

Cor laranja escura, com espuma de Bia formação e persistência. Aroma cítrico, de caramelo, frutas amarelas. No sabor, um amargor cítrico, herbal, depois com médio dulçor, com final seco e amargor com media persistência. Muito boa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to cards04 for this one. Mango, peach, and musk melon on the nose. A little cloudy, amber in color, and a thin head. Not buying into the sweet advertisement of the malt profile but good body is supported well. Good balance with the tropical hops taking a slight lead. Finish leaves some resin remnants. Like this.
