COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, itís a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent thatís all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya Ė and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. Itís like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory maltís signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, donít be fooled --thereís malt going on here, too, as youíll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbombís 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. Itís also incredibly drinkable. The oddity thatíll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddiní bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, itís all is so damn intriguing, youíll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

Amber body and nice looks. Biscuit and amber malts, layered. Hops have been lots already Iím afraid, even though I tried to drink it fresh. No date on the bottle but it is supposed to be fresh. Taste is nice though, American style clean fermentation. Nice enough, not too bitter. But canít reach the quality of the íalmost pale aleí. (Bottle from Saveur BiŤre)

Tapped and bottle at The Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Simply a perfect IPA: golden color with medium head, strong smell of verbs and hoppy taste.

ENG: 355ml bottle from Liquor Mart Winnipeg. Poured into the tulip, clean amber color, medium to high tan head, good lacing. Very strong fruity, floral, citrusy and piney aromas. Taste is quite piney, lime and grapefruit, with nice, strong and sticky but pleasure bitterness that stays for longer allover the mouth. Grapefruit and pine hoppy bitter aftertaste. Medium carbonation, medium body. Citra hops do the job!

PL: Butelka 355ml kupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg. Przelana do kieliszka, klarowne bursztynowe w barwie, średnio-wysoka jasna piana, niezły lejsing. W posmaku grejfrutowo-sosnowa, chmielowa goryczka. Średnie nasycenie, średnie ciało. Citra daje radę!

Promising citra nose that pays off in the flavor. Does not blow your head off, but rather delivers a very nice, balanced look at what American IPA could -and should - be. And from a Canadian brewer at that.

Dissipating white foamy head atop an orange body. While most IPAs have a citrus nose this is more a fruit bowl. Flavour is nicely tart with a mellow orange rind and soapy flowers. Lingering bitter hop finish. Very tasty. 355ml bottle purchased for $2.80 from Spinnakers Spirit Merchants in James Bay.
