COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, it’s a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent that’s all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya – and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. It’s like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory malt’s signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, don’t be fooled --there’s malt going on here, too, as you’ll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbomb’s 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. It’s also incredibly drinkable. The oddity that’ll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddin’ bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, it’s all is so damn intriguing, you’ll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear copper pour with a thin white head. Very light aroma. Some hops but mainly bitter grass notes. Mild flavor as well. Some very light hops with a bitter finish and aftertaste. Fades quickly but very easy to drink a good amount of.

America IPA. From the bottle at Winston's in Saskatoon. Pours cloudy orange, smaller head. Aroma of bitter grapefruit, breast malts and pine. Smoother velvet texture. Nice caramel malt back bone that finishes with a grapefruit, dry bitterness . Nice on a chilly evening, you can snuggle up with this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled at SBWF. Clear deep golden, coarse head. Caramelly nose wit hfaint grapefruit. Sweetish with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Fruity and syrupy with more caramel than citrus. Mid bitter finish. Not sure if the importer are trying to promote the beer by using old samples, as the hop character is near zero. The malt character on the other hand is a syrupy mess, so I wouldn’t really bother anyway.

Sample at SBWF. Fruity and hoppy smell with some citrus. Similar taste. Easy to drink and light IPA.

Striking aroma of hops, malt, and fruit. Clear dark orange colour. Prompt bitterness that doesn’t overpower the fruity flavours of the lychee and apricot. Lively on the palate. A very drinkable IPA, but I don’t think I could drink more than a few in a sitting.

355ml bottled on Aug 1, 2013. Pours a clear golden with an off-white, one finger, frothy head that thins to a thick film. Slight carbonation rising. Medium lacing around the glass. Aroma is large. Notes of citrus fruit and pine with a hint of bread. Taste is a balanced bitter with a long, drawn out, bitter aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Crisp mouth feel. Not as syrupy as other IPA’s. I had tried this beer awhile ago and wasn’t a fan. I had been neglecting trying it again but see now I should have given it another go. Refreshing and drinkable and well worth a try! And seeing as the brewery is about 5 mins away it is easily obtainable.

Bottle at Bishops Arms, Linköping. Clear golden/copper beer with a nice steady lasting head. Hoppy aroma, caramel, herbal notes, floral, citrus, grapefruit, herbal notes. Sharp hoppy flavor, floral, herbal, earthy notes, a bit unclean. I have the feeling this IPA has been in the bottle for a while. I was hoping for more.

355 ml bottle. Hazy amber with bright orange head. Aroma with loads of grassy and citrusy hops. Taste is dry, wood, pale caramel and citrus and grassy hops. Finish has some tongue numbing feeling to it.

Can’t believe I hadnt rated this yet. Big hoppy brew with tons of grapefruit and citrus fruits to boot. Mild caramel malts blend well with copious amoints of hops to create a wonderful resinous hoppy bitter brew.
