"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, itís a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent thatís all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya Ė and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. Itís like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory maltís signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, donít be fooled --thereís malt going on here, too, as youíll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbombís 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. Itís also incredibly drinkable. The oddity thatíll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddiní bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, itís all is so damn intriguing, youíll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

cask. great citrusy aroma with some floral piny hops there as well. not much malt to back this one up but the hops are balanced enough to keep it away from being to one sided. flavour is citrus with the majority leaning towards orange but with some grapefruit in there as well. mouthfeel was a tad watery, i feel like this one will be even better on tap. really nice offering. glad i got to try it.

Bottle, from the brewery. Medium yellow, well carbonated, very frothy head. Lots of citrus in aroma, along with some malt similar too the Hoptical Illusion - sort of a tea mixed with biscuit. Taste is very nice - lots of sharp spicy hops up front, long toasty bitter linger,. Really easy to drink with well carbonated but silky mouthfeel. A more refined and flavourful version of the solid Hoptical, nice job Flying Monkeys.

loses points for a lacking aroma but maybe thats because it was in a pint glass. lovely hop flavour with citrus and pine thoughout, the bitter finish was perfect for an IPA. i love how i can still taste the bitterness an hour after ive had my last sip. this is a real gem for a Canadian beer. great job, i cant wait for these to hit the LCBO!

Draught at Cíest What?, Toronto, ON.
Clear amber colour with small white head. Very fruity hoppy aroma with some bitterness and lots of delicious American hops. Grapefruit, citrus, fruits with malty body. Slightly thin but fizzy.

Amber, slightly hazy ale. Normal white-ish head that look more creamy than fizzy. Awesome aroma of citrus and flowers with what appears to be a solid caramel-ish malt backbone. Taste is ... well, totally memorable : The piney aspects of the hops is much more evident here, and the malts take the form of some pretty strong bready and spicy notes. Finish is just abrupt enough being totally unbalanced --- that one is extremely balanced, inspite of being, well, what it is : a doped-up IPA. Terrific, really.

Nice looking beer. Hazy red orange with a nice thick white head. Extremely strong Hop scent, as expected from a good IPA. Its got that grapefruit scent I know is associated with good pale ales. I usually dont like good pale ales. I find they assault the back of the throat. This one still does that but to a much lesser extent. Now I dont know if this makes it a better or worse IPA but its better to me. Rather like this for a style of beer Im not a big fan of.

Big aroma on this one, resin is more pronounced in the smell than grapefruit and citrus. But it smells delicious. Pours orange-red with a fat off-white head which shrinks into a persistent thin head. And, ladies and gentlemen, we have the Canadian IPA. Finally an IPA that I can easily find at the LCBO that can hold a candle to American classics like Hop Devil! Great bitter flavour, sparkling palate, with a dry finish. The length of the finish is only moderate, but this is a really nice IPA! A must try for Canadian hopheads :)

Pours hazy dark amber with frothy white head. Strong aroma of hops and floral scents. Tastes hoppy and sweet with a slight bitter aftertaste that plays in perfect balance.

A regular in my fridge. Amber pour with a finger plus of white head. Little gobs of lacing. Hoppy aroma - Citrus hops, grapefruit, mango, zesty, some pine. Big blast if citrus hops up front - Mango, Grapefruit rind, citronella, some pink, floral, fairly strong malt backbone. Midium bodied, medium carbonation. Big webs of lacing down the glass. This hits a 4.0 plus when itís fresh from the cask.

Light amber colour, off-white head with some lacing. Aroma is citrus and a bit of pine. Very hoppy taste, not much noticeable malt, which is not a bad thing. What is there has a roasty, warm quality. A grapefruit-like bitter finish is present and exactly what I look for in IPAs. Itís a bit strange to see Ontario breweries putting out very good IPAs (Muskokaís Mad Tom being another great example), but I welcome it.
