"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, itís a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent thatís all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya Ė and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. Itís like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory maltís signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, donít be fooled --thereís malt going on here, too, as youíll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbombís 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. Itís also incredibly drinkable. The oddity thatíll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddiní bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, itís all is so damn intriguing, youíll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

500 mL Draft had at a pub. Amber body with a foamy white head settling to a clingy film with lots of lace. Intense aroma of pink grapefruit rind and piney hops. Loads and loads of pink grapefruit rind dominate in the flavor; bitter resiny hops in the aftertaste and the sweet light malts come through in the finish. Smooth and light in the mouth. This calls for an encore.

From a bottle at the brewery. Pours a copper/orange. Very hoppy aroma and flavor with a bitter finish, but not overly bitter. Definitely for the hop lover.

Great fruity hop aroma and taste. There is some bitterness up front and at the end but in a good way. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear orange color with off-white head. Classic west coast style hoppy aroma. Resiny, earthy and citrusy. Taste follows with the same notes, not bitter at first but builds up towards the finish. You get oranges at first and grapefruit in the aftertaste. Smooth body with very nice carbonation. Really easy to drink and well done IPA.

Can. Pours in light hazy copper body with just a ring head, no lacing. Aroma has tropical fruit character, mostly sweet like mango, pineapple. Taste has higher tropical bitterness, long lasting after taste, low and dry malty sweetness. Body is full, medium carbonation.

Very malty for the deScription of this IPA. There is some bitterness at the finish but this beer lacks nose and up front hops. This beer is just ok not great.

0.355 bottle. Clear, dark gold color and a medium, creamy, off-white head. Aroma of hops, pines, mango, pears, wet paper, and some resin. Taste is not as bitter as expected, obviously hoppy in a fruity way but with a delicate malty touch. A medium body, a creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is ripe with fruits: mango, pineapple, grapefruit, pear, and perhaps a tad of white grapes but features malts too. Overall a very good beer; Flying Monkey is a top league player in Canada.

Sample at the Far Out! Space Tasting #2 on 10/01/2015. Clear copper color with a medium thick foamy white head that diminishes gradually. Sticky partial rings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of grapefruity hops, malt and pine. The finish is mildly bitter with a tropical fruit and hops aftertaste. Above average overall.
