COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, it’s a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent that’s all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya – and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. It’s like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory malt’s signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, don’t be fooled --there’s malt going on here, too, as you’ll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbomb’s 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. It’s also incredibly drinkable. The oddity that’ll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddin’ bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, it’s all is so damn intriguing, you’ll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

Copper, clear, frothy white head. Smells nice - Nice mix of pine and citrus. Pretty good stuff - hop forward, with a good deal of piney, resiny hops. long, sticky aftertaste. I liked it. Thanks to jerc for the trade!

Bottled August 17th, consumed August 29th. Fresh as all hell. Huge hop aroma with a hum of citrus and floral. Taste is exceptionally bitter but well-balanced and the crisp, clean hops take over the mouth and are there to stay. Malt backing is solid with a nice chewy feel that compliments the huge hop well.

Pour copper orange with a off white head. Aroma big aroma of pine, pine sap, resiny hops, some citrus, light caramel. Taste mild malt body mostly dominated by bitter hops, pine citrus(grapefruit) and touch of caramel are quite tasty. MF medium sticky body with a good carb. Overall a super solid brew I’m very happy to see make it to the LCBO easy drinking and full of flavor.

355 ml bottle from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Hazy deep amber with a so-so light tan meringue. Aroma: Strongly savoury, brothy malts, a good deal of brown/burnt sugar, toast, bread crust, toffee, hop notes are leafy, floral, pine/resin, there’s a bit of sulphur, unfortunately. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly lively effervescence, a touch oily. Flav.: Quite leafy, soapy, floral hops, some pine and resin, lighter grapefruit notes, the malts take a bit of a back seat in mouth, still some bread crust and toast, burnt sugar, note much in the way of sweet, fruity, playful notes; dry with good bitterness and a fairly long, resinous, mineral, light bread crust finish.

Doesn’t quite live up to the hype, but still pretty good. Certainly less disappointing than their Hoptical Illusion.

[bottle, 6% abv] Excellent grapefruit and pine hops aroma blended with some faint caramel and nuts. Clear coppery brown appearance with a lasting, white flannel blanket. Almost salty with hops, the flavour is a balance of floral and bitter grapefruit hops that starts off strong and peters out to a disappointing finish. Accents of pineapple, green apple, and toasty biscuits. Light to medium body, tangy salty feel from hops, moderate carbonation, lingering bitter finish.

Another great addition to the Hoppy Beer Universe. Obviously big strong bitter hop presence up front. Backed by citrus in the middle. Not getting any malt. Dark amber pour. Taste is heavy bitter and the it is pretty thin in the mouth with good carbonation. Great beer!

Draught at C’est What?, Toronto, ON.
Clear amber colour with small white head. Very fruity hoppy aroma with some bitterness and lots of delicious American hops. Grapefruit, citrus, fruits with malty body. Slightly thin but fizzy.

This beer needs to be sold in any sort of liquor establishment. I’ve only ever seen it on TAP at one place which is Garrisons in London ONTARIO, probably the best beer place in my area and in my opinion anywhere. There is no doubt that this is an ultimate hop bomb and the crazy scientists at Flying Monkey Brewery are wonderful. A must try for anyone.
