3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Aromas are grainy, color is coppery and it behaves a lot like a slightly an amber that had been hopped more than normal. I wanted to like this one, but found it a very disappointing bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by a friend. Pours dark copper with a small white head. Aroma was lots of citrus and floral hops but I also got some sweet malts in there with caramel and some cereal. Taste is grapefruit, orange, and caramel. It has a pretty balanced mixture of sweet and bitter throughout. Good IPA and my first time trying Flying Monkeys.

12oz bottle, big thanks to Scott L! Mostly clear orange amber color. Lots of fine darker particles provide for a slight haze to the body. Thin khaki head. Leaves good lace. Big aromatic nose. Losts of grapefruit citrus and some caramel malt. Good big spicy resiny grapefruit hop in the flavor, as well as an interesting biscuity malt. Light bit of caramel malt, some spiciness to it. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation. Lightly slick finish. Impressive IPA.. Particularly in the way that it differentiates itself from popular American IPAs... Has a much more pronounced amber malt profile than the typical pale west coast examples, but it’s not bothersome here. It’s very assertive, big, and hoppy for a 6% IPA, and most American examples at this gravity feel a bit light and weak. This is pretty assertive despite that ABV. Soild flavorful lighter ABV IPA. Dig the balance of malt / hops.

Cor laranja escura, com espuma de Bia formação e persistência. Aroma cítrico, de caramelo, frutas amarelas. No sabor, um amargor cítrico, herbal, depois com médio dulçor, com final seco e amargor com media persistência. Muito boa.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to cards04 for this one. Mango, peach, and musk melon on the nose. A little cloudy, amber in color, and a thin head. Not buying into the sweet advertisement of the malt profile but good body is supported well. Good balance with the tropical hops taking a slight lead. Finish leaves some resin remnants. Like this.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Awesome IPA. Pours deeper orange than most with a small white head that dissolves into some lace and a small ring. Prominent citrus and floral hop aromas. Taste is fruity-bittersweet with a dominant grapefruit note, which does not devolve into too strong astringency. Plentiful, fine carbonation. Delicious.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Butterscotch-like sweetness grounds citrusy and resinous hops in this expressive IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the misty amber.
-The mouthfeel is hefty due to the caramelly residual sugars.
-Bitterness is quite resinous and woodsy.
-If the caramel flavors were more restrained, this would have been more enjoyable (to me).
On tap at The Saint Tavern, Toronto.
