Nearly black pour with a finger of mocha head that leaves a good layer of lace. Chocolate dominates the nose as one might expect. I get layers and layers of different chocolate notes, milk chocolate, hot chocolate, fresh fudge. There’s also a nice vanillan note wrapped around the chocolate. There’s a nice little licorice note added on the palate as well as a faint bitterness that offsets the light sweetness. Finishes with a drawn out slightly warming bittersweet chocolaty note. My only criticism would be that I would have liked some toasty malt notes to back up the chocolate.

On tap. Pour pitch black with a brownish head. Big chocolate aroma. Absolutely huge. Wicked. More Chocolate on the palate, sweet, and some more sweet chocolate. Long finish. A little too sweet for me.

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, milk chocolate, cacao, chocolate sprinkles. Chocolate flavour, malts, instant chocolate milk, very sweet. Sweet finish, chocolate, Nesquick. Promising but didn’t deliver.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours black with an orange hue and a creamy, beige head. EXTREME sweet chocolate aroma, overpowering anything else. Rich body, again very sweet chocolate notes while the roast is downplayed. Borders cloying but you kinda get used to it after a while. But still not a beer to be enjoyed in big glasses. 050215

750ml bottle from LCBO, Parkway Mall, Scarborough, ON. Pours an opaque dark brown colour with small lasting tanned head. Aroma of hot chocolate and a whiff of dark chocolate. Taste is complex. Crisp start leads to sweet chocolate milk middle and ends with a well balanced dry finish. Lively carbonation.

Bottle from La Mise en Bière - Black color with a small tan head, short lasting and small lacing - Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, red fruits, amazing aroma - Flavor is more cocoa and chocolate, vanilla and toffee completely surprising - Full body, light bitterness, good carbonation, sweet and creamy, long long chocolate finish - this beer is indescribable, incredible, that’s a chocolate beer...

The name says it all...chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Wow! Other reviews here have likened this to alcoholic chocolate syrup - I don’t know if I’d go that far, but it is an INTENSELY chocolatey experience. The aroma is, obviously, chocolate, with hints of fuit and vanilla, as well as black coffee. Poured into a tulip glass, this beer was dark brown, almost black, with a hint of red to it. 1cm beige head that lasted a long time and left beautiful lacing on the glass. Taste is sweet (but not cloyingly so), with subtle hints of bitterness under the powerful chocolate presence. Alcohol is hidden well, surprising for such a high ABV. Truly delicious.

I love chocolate stouts, and this is no exception. You’re bombarded with chocolate aroma the moment you remove the cap. Flavors of rich, dark chocolate, chocolate syrup, vanilla, cream, dark berries, roasted malt and chocolate liquor. You’re probably noticing a theme. Alcohol is present but warming and well blended. Fantastic beer for chocolate lovers.

[Bottle (750ml)] Pours almost black with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma: Smells like a chocolate liqueur. Flavour is all chocolate all the time along with some alcohol. Medium bodied. Good stuff if you would like a glass of chocolate, not really beer-like at all though -- I fall somewhere in the middle. Glad my wife drank half the bottle because I could never drink all of this.
