[6011-20131027] Tap. Fruity poop and cherry syrup aroma. Black body with a quick foamy off-white head. Bitter roasted nuts and heavy syrupy malt flavour. Full body. Big and tasty, just hints at its alcoholic base. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

[6092B-20131207] Bottle. Rich chocolate and cocoa-infused raspberry fruit aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy brown head. Boozy liqueur chocolate and fruity malt flavour. Full body. Tasty, super rich chocolate everywhere. (8/4/8/3/15) 3.8

Black with a lasting, medium, beige, lacy head. Beautiful and thick. Smells of sweet milk cream filled chocolate with lots of mocha. So much chocolate that it overpowered the chocolate smell of the chocolate I ate with it. Vanilla with caramel and lots of malt. Initial taste of roast that fills into rich chocolate milk and sweet malt and finishes with a bitter vanilla roasted character. Some warmth from the alcohol but you can’t taste the 10%abv at all. Heavy sweet with with a heavy roast finish. Medium to full oily body. No carbonation. The craftsmanship of this beer is excellent. Well balanced and delicious.

Beer is a pretty solid black with some tan head that faded and little lacing. Actually not great looking. Aroma is cocoa, cocoa and more cocoa. In there is a bit of coffee too. Taste is a good balance between sweet at the beginning and bitter at the end. There’s a boozy warming all the way through and almost rolls into your nose. Quite an experience.

750mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours black with a small tan head. Nose is intensely chocolatey, with cherry liqueur and Bailey’s. Flavour is full-bodied, rich and dessert-like, with milk chocolate, Bailey’s Irish cream, and cherry. Thick as fuck, with a creamy chocolate finish. Wow, what a beer. Delicious decadent treat.

Nearly black pour with a finger of mocha head that leaves a good layer of lace. Chocolate dominates the nose as one might expect. I get layers and layers of different chocolate notes, milk chocolate, hot chocolate, fresh fudge. There’s also a nice vanillan note wrapped around the chocolate. There’s a nice little licorice note added on the palate as well as a faint bitterness that offsets the light sweetness. Finishes with a drawn out slightly warming bittersweet chocolaty note.

Draft. When it comes to dessert I always say the more chocolate the better. So I was definitely in love with this beer. Dark brown pour. Espresso, and heavy dark chocolate head. Taste is almost completely chocolate with some roast and coffee.

Dark brown with a good beige head. Aroma is chocolate, chocolate moose, vanilla, chocolate pudding. Full bodied, strangely balanced on the palate, bittersweet finish. Taste is cocoa powder, Sacher torte, vanilla.

I bought two bottles of this and saved the second to rate....it is even better than I remembered it being the first go ’round. You’re either in or you’re out with this monster....doth thou loveth thine chocolate? Turns out that I do, and this beer is pretty much entirely a cocoa-man’s dream dram. Blackest black with a creamy dark tan head, oozing every shade of chocolate known for nose and tongue both. Milkiest milk to duskiest dark, this thick, slick, lick o’ choco is dessert in a snifter. 10% you say? Only my liver knows for sure since this behemoth hides its booze like your father when mumsy comes home early. A treat for a Sweet Stout, chocolate chugging champ.
