3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, - OCT 12, 2011
[3984-20110923] Tap. Chocolate mousse cake aroma has some floral taffy coffee notes. Murky, dark brown body with a quick bubbly head. Sweet roasted vanilla toffee flavour with a wonderfully rich finish. Full body. Interesting roast characteristics, overly vanilla but has other things to balance out a bit. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Spab (1196) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 27, 2011
On tap at C’est What 24 Hours of Beer. Pours a murky, slightly orange-ish brown with small tan cap. Aroma isn’t overpowering but has distinct vanilla and chocolate character. Flavour is stronger with a quite robust vanilla note as well as some cocoa and coffee. Certainly mean it when they say ’vanilla’ but I enjoyed it.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 thb (485) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 27, 2011
Dark, dark brown, nice head. This beer was just about vanilla first, porter second. A serious vanilla bomb, it was a bit like drinking straight vanilla extract (but not really). Coffee/cocoa malts provided some backbone but they could do more. Don’t quite know how to describe it but this had a grainy, "papery" mouthfeel to it that was a little offputting.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jerc (5591) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 25, 2011
2011-09-23. Very dark brown-black body wtih a small frothy tan head. 3+ Fairly strong vanilla character is interesting, finishes a bit dry, bit of alcohol, bit of a vegetation undercurrent. That is not the right word, its sort of an organic not that to me is suggestive of real vanilla pods, but I don’t know if that’s what it is. Mild sweet malt character reminds me of something. Average palate needs a touch more carbonation for my preference. Pretty decent, it needs a bit more body and malt to balance to the vanilla to suit me. C’est What 24 Hours of Beer, Toronto Beer Week
