Pricey bottle from Astor Wines. Ommegang Chalice. Clear, pale & yellow, with a slight sparkle. Smells of twangy apples, white wine, lemon & yeast. Grapey & sharp flavor. Lots of skin. Moscato-like sweetness. Lingering tartness. Rind. Yeasty, grassy finish. Thin & very spritzy. Alcohol seems in check. Hard soloing these bottles. Oooh me cabeza...

The aroma is enticing with sweet fruity apples and only a tad of alcohol. The appearance is yellow and without a head. The taste is not like the aroma with a tartness and a funkiness. The palate is average for the style. Overall not a very good cider but not bad either.

750mL Bottle poured at CiderDays 2010. Clean, plain stemmy aroma. Pours a middle golden, clear with white rime. Light and clean acid, bright and sharp, fairly clean and a little bit plain. I really enjoy the tartness that comes out of this, supposedly, from Virginia Crabapples, which was a surprise to me. Nice and dry finish. I though the palate was good, but the overall flavor profile a little shy.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2010 750ml bottle. Not particularly aromatic, smells of sweet pear a bit. Pours a beautifully clear pale gold. Taste is tart and sweet apple with some mild astringency. Bright, light carbonation. Light bodied. Lingering tart finish. Delicious. Incredibly quaffable & refreshing. The best of the Virginia premium ciders (and therefore the best I’ve had, including the venerable Dupont)

Bottle from Maniac’s Richmond Tenth Gathering. Clear lightly yellowed water appearance with almost no head. Some light effervescence. Exactly what I expect from a cider. Nice example. Not overly sweet or dry. Good balance.

Courtesy of maniac, Richmond 10th. Very, very light yellow. Aroma is apple. Flavor is a light apple as well. Touch of sourness, but nice. Simple, straightforward. Nice.
