This was better than expected as the ginger was pretty subtle (thankfully - not a fan of ginger beers). Instead this was a lot like a nice weizenbock. Sweet wheat, candy and malts. Tasty beer. Thanks JM for this one.

murky gold, thin white film head. Fresh ginger nose, the acids whacking with lemon, bits of celery and puke that blow off to reveal loads of cotton candy. Moderate oxidation at the front, lemon and ginger across mid with a soapy texture accenting the age before a toasty, fizzy end.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 14, 2014 Sample at the brewery, 2/7/14
Golden raisin colored body is moderately hazy, with a foamy white head that shows moderate retention, light lacing. Plentiful carbonation.
Brewed with raw ginger and it shows, giving that spicy, invigorating kick to the nose and with enough room for some dry wheat and light honey-dough-like maltiness to peek through. Some dry yeastiness dulls a bit (could be the actual wheat) but otherwise a very ample gingery aroma for an otherwise not spectacularly aromatic style.
Supple, nearly creamy body provides more than enough support to the spicy ginger, which is certainly the main show, though not overdone by any means. The maltiness shows more sweetness than is typical for an American wheat beer, with some light syrupiness that is quite honey-like but actually plays quite well with the ginger. Soft texture, no alcohol, moderate carbonation.

Aroma is almost like a sour aged in wine barrels. Get much wine aroma coming through. Taste is not quite as good as the aroma but still very good. Ginger comes through a bit but is very well done in this beer. Really some nice flavors. Very solid brew. Lighter but lots of complexity.

22oz bottle pours a clear gold with some bright, white head. Nose has some crystallized ginger, some malt sweetness, some lemon, some lemon grass, earthy, a little coriander. Flavor is sweet, a little chalky, some mild ginger on the tongue, coriander, some straw, some lemon. Clean finish.

Pours golden with thick white head, with smells of wheat and ginger. Taste is nice and sweet, with a good dose of ginger at the end. Not a huge fan of wheat beers, but this was quite enjoyable. Very good beer overall.

Nice! I would like more ginger, but an approachable artisanal wheat beer with nominal cliudiness and lots of character. I will buy another.

Great beer. Both wheat and ginger are there but in a very balanced and elegant way. Some citrus, some sweet coming from ginger and wheat. At nose is gentle and very appealing with a fresh and mild ginger aroma. Loved it and for sure will be my summer session beer.

Bottle. A healthy off-white head with staying power tops a lovely golden color. The taste amply delivers the promise of the name. Distinct, but not overpowering, aroma of ginger damps down the normal heaviness of a wheat brew. This delicious, flavorful brew refreshes and leaves the palate clean, with no bitterness or heaviness. Brilliant delivery of the hyper-local concept.
