2009 bottle at the 21st Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. Pours a dark golden colour with a lacy white head. Aroma of wet cardboard, horse blanket, lemon and oak. Similar flavours and nicely tart with a very dry finish. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

75cl bottle at home thanks to Paul and Heidi at the brewery. This was labeled as black label. Very nice blend which was hugely balanced. Not really different from other top vintages from Girardin but a classic non the less!

I’ve tasted this beer in Belgium last year, the one I had was aged of 2 or 3 years. Really interesting taste. Fruity aroma, not too sour, Was kind of soft ,fruity and a bit bitter in the end !

Pours a cloudy golden color with a huge white head. Amazing funk aroma that just immediately says Girardin. Lots of earth, must, grass, and sweat. Lemon peel and apple give a nice tartness as well. Some yeast and light bread flavor to go with all the funk and tartness. Lemon peel and green apple sourness as well as heavy grass, earth, and must with just a touch of tannic oak. Nice high carbonation and dry mouthfeel. Awesome stuff.

2009 vintage, botte #879/1400
Orange gold colour, slight white head. Aroma quite tart, fruity, citrus, light silage, quite floral. Makes my tastebuds go wild already as if I was pavlov’s dog. Flavour is quite tart, geuze, lemon, light lactic acid, light silage and hay. Nice and dry, tart finish. Great geuze.
(From 75cL bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen. Thanks for sharing, diabel!!)

2009 Vintage 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to Diabel – bottle nr. 879/1400 – glad to see this one around even tough I didn’t expect it since I didn’t pick it up when I was it – hazy orange with lambicy white head – smells like sour lemons, some hay, slight barnyard, fresh lemons, something slightly hearbal – tart & sour lemons, slight funkiness with some barnyard, slight lactic, white grapes, horse blanket, hint of acid, straw with some bitterness in the aftertaste –fluffy body, soft carb. refreshing, lovely

75cl bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen courtesy of Diabel. 2009 vintage, botte #879/1400.

750ml bottle pours a hazy burnt orange with zero head. Nose is OK, grassy, herbal, some vinegar. Flavor is flat, windex, dandelion greens, oranges, grass. Watery, thin finish, no carbonation. Needs more time in the bottle.

Thanks Travlr! Clear amber pour with zero carbonation in the body, or head atop it. Lemony citrus funk, bubblegum, and huge puckering acidity gives way to hints of much and cheesecloth. Super dry acidic body with a juicy finish.
