COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. [thanks Feldthaus]
Deep brown pour, almost black with a big, fizzy, beige head. Aroma has nuts, black currants, vinious and chocolate. Medium carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is relatively sweet, chocolate, liqourice, anise, mildly roasted. Light dark fruit, estery. Pleasantly warming. Really nice that the roast balanced the sweetness so well.

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. It pours a very dark reddish brown body, topped by a small beige head. Lots of licorice and heavily roasted malts on the nose, molasses and dried fruits too. Slightly peppery flavor, with licorice and roasted malts doing most of the work in company with dark sugars. Full-bodied and slightly warming on the palate, maybe a bit on the sweet side. The finish has a nice bitterness, mostly of the roasted kind. A nice beer indeed, I think it would be even better with some more of the hops, especially at the end of the boil. 100424
