UPDATED: JUN 19, 2011 On tap. Pours a cloudy reddish amber with a small off-white head. Juicy heavy hop aroma. Solid body, lots of caramel and nuts with a herbal, medicinal character. The finish is bitter but the hops are not that distinct, still nice though. Bordering US Barley Wine territory. 270511

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 yngwie (9205) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - OCT 7, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2011 Bottle. It’s a hazy, amber to golden beer topped by a big, volcanoing, beige head. Slightly milky on the nose, and a very evident hoppyness. Resiny, sweet and slighlty milky-sour flavor, finishing with lots of bitterness. Full body, dry. Not a very good beer, definitely not entirely clean, it’s the hops that saves this one from an even lower score from me. Rating: 4-3-5-4-10-2.6. 100521
On tap at Ølfestival 2011. As Føniks Imperial IPA, 8.2% ABV. It pours an unclear, dark amber body under a dense, finger-thick beige head. The aroma has resiny, citrusy hops and rather sweetish malty caramel. Some dark sugar too. The flavor is sweet and bitter. Sugary sweet, with caramel maltyess, citrus, pinecones and bitterness. Full-bodied and sticky, nicely carbonated and warming. Lacks a bit on bitterness this one, and it’s too sweet. Else, quite drinkable. 110528

Bottle. [thanks Feldthaus]
Golden ruby red with a medium, frothy, off-white head that settles as a creamy top. Sweet resiny aroma of hops. Lots of strawberries, pineapple, grapefruit. Light red berries and red apple as well. Medium carbonation, good creamy and dry mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of bitter hops, almost harsh in character. Very bitter, some fruitiness. Strawberries, peach, pine. Lots of heavy bitterness in the finish. Somewhat unrefined, but a good stab at an IIPA, anyway.
