The ultimate suburban brew, Backyahd is an aggressively hopped American IPA with a tantalizing hop aroma. The beer’s bitterness pairs perfectly with spicy foods coming straight off the grill. Enjoy it with friends, family, or whomever you choose. After all, it’s your Backyahd.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20On tap at 108 Roadhouse - Peace Dale, RI. Minty, leafy green aroma. Mild. Flavor starts malty and sweet, with a distant notion of hop flavor. Dusty, coarse green bitterness closes out. Kind of confused, kind of English, kind of American middle of the road IPA. Needs some refinement and more hop aroma and flavor. Not super-impressed.

Can. Cloudy light copper pour with a thin off white head. Aroma of earthy hops. Slight metallic taste with a dirty hoppy finish.

Tried on tap at Doherty’s.. medium head and little lacing...light citrus beginning with a slight astringent hop finish....not a real balance between the hops and malt. Overall a miss for style.

5 oz. taster @ R.I. Brewfest 2 Feb 2013. Citrus fruit and grassy hops on the nose. Light-medium in body. Citrusy hops dominate the flavor with a biscuit malt that provides good balance. Finish is lightly dry and hoppy. Something in the flavor reminds me of an English IPA. More in the lines of a classic IPA, not a hop bomb which is what I like most about it. Worth a try for sure.
